To all whom it may concern Be it known thatl, Join? S. Anton, a cit-1- zen of the United States, and a resident of Columbus, in the county of Muscogcc; State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Package-Ties, of which'the followingis, a full and clear specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective device applied to fasten togeth r a packet of letters or papers; Fig. 2 a'detail plan view of the metal portion of the device, a portion of the, tongue of the buckle being shown in section; and Fig. 3 an edge elevation of the device shown in Fig. 2, Y

The object of this invention is to rovide a sim 1e and inex ensive and dura le device or tempora'r'ly tying 'up' papers and letters in packets, the invention consisting of certain novel features of construction hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim appended.

In applying the'device to a. package, the metal member is placed centrally of the package, and held firmly in that position bypressing upon the triangular loop a, leaving the buckle portion free; the strap 1', is then passed around the package, its loose end passed under and through the buckle loop, and the tongue made'to engage one of the eyelets.

By forming the metal member with two parts hinged together, it can be readily seenthat the loose end of the strap'i can be passed under and through the buckle loop without releasing hold of the other member, thereby facilitating quick and accurate application of the device.
