Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, En ELLIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Guthrie, in the county of Logan and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Door-Securers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in door securers, and has for its object to provide a device which may be easily carried about in the users pocket without in any way endangering either the pocket or the person of the user.
Another object of my invention is to provide a device which may be easily and quickly applied to a door and which will prevent opening of the same without first removing the securer from its locked position.
A still further object of my invention is to provide a guard for the securer which will prevent the points from becoming dull or broken.
With the above and other objects in View, I will now proceed to describe my invention in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure 1 is a perspective View of my improved door securer in its extended position; Fig. 2 is a top plan view; and Fig. 3 is a detail view showing my improved door securer as it would appear when applied.
Referring to the drawings by characters of reference, 1 indicates generally the main body portion ofmy door securer to which is pivotally connected the frame engaging member indicated generally by the numeral 2. This frame engaging member preferably comprises the wires 3 and 4, having formed at one extremity thereof the loops 5. These loops 5 are preferably secured to the bar 6, which is slidably mounted in the body portion 1, as will be more fully herein-- after set forth. A web of metal 7 is provided at one extremity with the upturned teeth 8, and intermediate its ends with the teeth 9, which arepreferably stamped from a sheet of material and adapted to enter -the door jamb when the device is in place. Suitable beads 10 are formed along the lateral edges of the web 7 and are adapted to surround the wire 4 and thereby hold the web in place on the wires. It will be clearly seen that the wires will be firmly held in spaced relation to each other in a manner described above.
The main body portion 1 preferably comprises the U-shaped members indicated by the numeral 11, which are composed of the two arms 12 and 13 and are adapted to surround the post 6, which slides longitudinally through the slots 14 formed intermediate the arms of the u shaped member. The ends of the U-shaped member 11, 0pposite the rounded end are preferably bent inwardly, as clearly illustrated in the drawings, and are adapted to lie adjacent each other. A web of metal 15 is interposed between the two U-shaped members 11 and is provided along its lateral extremities with the beads 16, these beads 16 being adapted to firmly clamp the wires 12 and 13 of the U-shaped members and hold the same firmly in place. This bead 16 is preferably depressed, as clearly illustrated at 17 to more firmly bind the wires and prevent them from becoming accidentally displaced. 7
It will be clearly seen upon referring to the drawings that the post .6 will form a pivot point around which the frame engaging member 2 is adapted to swing. This post is slidably mounted in the slot 14: formed between the wires12 and 13 of the main body portion, and it will be clearly seen upon referring to Fig. 2 that the frame engaging member is inserted. between the door indicated generally at A and the frame B, with the points 8 and 9 entering the frame. The member 1 is then slid longitudinally along the post 6, and the U-shaped wires 11 will overlie a portion of the door. Should any pressure be applied against the door, the main body portion will rock on the pivot'6 and cause the end opposite the U-shaped wires-to abut the door frame and thereby prevent said door from being opened.
While in the foregoing I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, I wish it to beunderstood that I may change the specific arrangements of parts without'in any way departing from the. spirit and scope of my invention.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim is:
