Letters Patent No. 108,475, dated October 18, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN C'HANGEABL'E-GAUGE CAR-WHEELS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making partof the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JONAS HAMILTON and GEORGE F. MORSE, of Portland, in the county of Onrnberland'and State of Maine, have invented a new and useful lmprovement in Gar-\Vheels for Changeable-gauge Trucks and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, 7
which will enable others to make and use our invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part .of this specification, in which is seen asection of the wheel, bushing, and axle.
The purpose of our invention is to provide an improvemcnt in car-wheels for changeable-gauge trucks; and
It consists of the bushing I), having two sets of apertures, in combination with the car-wheel, and the axle, having the hole to receive the gib and key, and the gib and key g and 71.
Our bushings are secured to the axle, as shown in the drawing, by means of a key-way, made entirely through the axle, and by means of a gib and key, passing through both bushing and axle.
The bushing has two key-ways, to allow of the different posit-ions of the wheel in accommodating itself to the broad orl'mrrow gauge.
