Description

faitb tatrs @attent @timeV Letters Patent No. 108,315, dated October 18, 1870.
IMPROVEMENT lN COMBINED COLLAR AND CUFF-BOXES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concerny Be it known that I, JACOB C. BAUER, of the city, county, and State ot' New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Combined Collar and Gutf- Box; and I do hereby declare that thc following is a full, clear, and exact description thereot', which will enable others skilled in the art to vmake and use the same, rcfercnce being had to the accompanying drawing forming part ot' this specification, in whichl Figure 1 is a detail perspective view ot' my iinproved box.
Figure 2 is a detail crosssection of the suine.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved paper box, designed more especially for containing paper collars and cuffs, but equally applicable for containing collars and culfs made of other materials, and which shall be so constructed as to contain the collars and cutis in such a way that they may be conveniently removed when required for use; and
It consists in the construction of the various parts of the box, as hereinafter more fully described.
A is the body ot' the box, which is made rectangulaitin form, and the edges of the bottom of which project slightly beyond its sides, as shown `in figs. l and 2.
Around the sides of the body Afnear their upper edges, is formed a shoulder, a', for the lower edges of the parts of the cover to rest upon, as shown in figs. 1 and 2.
The interior of the body A is divided into two compartments, B G, by the partition D.
The smaller compartment B is designed to receive the rolls of cuffs, and the box should be made'of such a length that two'rolls of ous, laid end to end, may be placed in it, and lit snugly.
In the part C of the box are formed two cylindrical compartments, E, to receive the rolls ofl collars, as shown in, fig. 1.
The appearance of the interior of the box may be improved by a partition, F, secure to the sides of the body A and partition D, and having holes formed through it, through which the cylinders E project- '.lhe partition D projects above the upper edges of the sides of the box A, as shown in figs. l and 2, and to its upper edge are hinged kthe inner edges ot' the parts ofthe cover G, by means of cloth or other suitable material. l y
The sides or {ianges of the parts G of the cover overlap the upper edges of the sides of the body A, and their lower edges rest uponV the shoulders a', formed upon the said sides of the said body A,'as hereinbefore described.
B y this construction the top of the cover does not l rest upon the upper edges of the sides of the box A, which allows the upper side of the rolls ot' cu's to project above the edges of the sides of the body A, as shown in gs. 1 and 2, so that the said rolls may be readily taken hold ot', for convenience in removing them from the box when required.
The sides and top of the box may be oruamentcd in any desired manner.
Havingthus' described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- An improved collar and entf-box, formed by the combination of the' body A a', partition D, with its upper edge projecting'above the sides of the box, rectangular compartment B, two cylindrical compartments E, and hinged cover G made in two parts, with each other, said parts being constructed and arranged substantially as herein shown and described, andfor the purpose set forth.
The above specitication ot' my invention signed by me this 21st day ot' September, 1870.
JACOB G. BAUER.
Witnesses: l GEO. W. MABEE,
