LAND-PULVERIZER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed September 6, 1912.
Patented Dec. 30, 1913.
Serial No. 719,033.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED PINET, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Vonda, Province of Saskatchewan, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Land-Pulverizers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to .make and use the same.
The invention to be hereinafter described relates to soil pulverizers.
In order to more clearly disclose the construction, operation, and use of the invention, reference should be had to the accompanying drawings forming part of the present application.
Throughout the several figures of the drawings like reference characters designate the same parts.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention; and Fig. 2 is a central, vertical, longitudinal, cross section through the same.
The main objects of the invention are to provide a simple, durable, efficient, economi cal, and compact machine by which soil may be put in thorough condition for seeding.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 indicates a leveling beam and 2 two crushing or pulverizing beams. These three beams are connected by braces 3 and the intervening spaces are filled in with flooring l. The two pulverizing beams are arranged on edge, each presenting an upwardly and forwardly inclined surface beneath which the clods and lumps are caught and crushed as the machine is drawn forward over the ground. In this way, the surface will be thoroughly pulverized and all clods and lumps eliminated.
The main oflice of the beam 1 is to level off or even off the surface over which the machine is drawn. Some parts of the surface, even after the crushers 2 have operated, are uneven. By arranging the beam 1 with one face flat on the ground, the front face will be presented at right angles to the ground. In this way, the edge formed by the joining of the two faces will act as a scraper and will tend to level or even up the pulverized surface.
The inclined wearing surfaces of the beams 2 are provided with protecting or guard plates 5 to off set the wear on the crushers.
. The beams l and 2 are absolutely rigid and unyielding. There is no relative movement between them and the braces 3 or flooring 4L. The result is that the entire weight of the machine is made effective, to the greatest possible extent, on the surface over which it passes.
The construction is extremely simple, the entire complete machine comprising simply the beams, braces, and flooring.
It is thought that the operation and use of the invention will be clear from the preceding detailed description.
Changes may be made in the construction, arrangement, and disposition of the several parts of the invention withoutin any way departing from the field and scope of the same, and it is meant to include all such within this application wherein only the preferred form has been disclosed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the character described, braces 3, flooring sections at between and supported by sald braces, a plurality of beams 2 rigidly and immovably connected to said braces and supporting said flooring sections and arranged to present forwardly inclined crushing surfaces to the soil, and a leveling beam 1 connected to the rear edge of the rear flooring section and to the braces 3 and arranged to present one face at right angles to the ground surface.
2. In a device of the character described, a plurality of beams arranged to present forwardly inclined crushing surfaces to the soil, a leveling beam in the rear thereof and arranged to present a perpendicular leveling surface to the soil, and means for rigidly connecting all said beams in spaced relation.
3. In a device of the character described, a plurality of parallel beams arranged to present forwardly inclined crushing surfaces to the soil, a leveling beam in the rear thereof and parallel therewith and arranged to present a perpendicular leveling surface to the soil, and means for rigidly connecting all said beams in spaced relation.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
ALFRED PINET.
