My invention relates to single action coin controlled vending machines. By single action I refer to that class of machines which contain but a singlearticle, or package of articles, to be rented or sold.

On the front wall of the outer casing 3 is a slide E moving in ways F m and carryin g at one end lug Gprojecting into the coin chute A. The slide is held in normal position by a spring H.

Back of the coin chute and entirely separated from it by a thin plate of metal is a locking slide I shown by dotted lines. On its upper edge this slide carries a lug J and near the lower edge it has a roller K which projects forward through the opening in the thin plate into the coin slot and in the path of the moving coin. To the top of the housing is secured the downwardlyextending stop M arranged to be engaged by the lug J to lock the outer casing in closed position.

When a coin is dropped into the slot 2 it falls to the bottom of the upper portion of the coin chute A and lies in front of the projecting lug G on the slide E Now if the slide E is moved to the left (as viewed in Fig. 4) the projecting lug G will engage with the coin and carry it along until it bears against the roller K and if the motion is further continued to its limit it will cause the slide I to move carrying its lug J from behind the lugA, whereupon the movable part of the box which carries the mechanism can be drawn forward and the package extracted. The box is locked by closing itand inserting a key or bar in the slot L and pushing the slide I back to its first posit-ion.

W hile I have shown and described what I believe to be a preferred form or type of construction, I do not wish to be understood as limiting the scope of my claims thereto.

In the claims I shall refer to the outer case as a door; to the casing X as a receptacle.

I'Vhat I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a vending machine the combination with a housing, a door pivotally connected to said housing at its bottom, and means car ried by said door to control its movement, of a goods receptacle pivotally connected at its bottom to the said door.

2. In a vending machine, the combination with a housing, of a door having front, side, top and bottom walls and pivotally connected to said housing at its bottom edge, means carried by said door and cont-rolling the motion of said door, a receptacle consisting of a back piece, two side pieces, and bottom piece, the bottom piece of the receptacle being pivotally connected with the bottom of the door.

3. In a vending machine, the combination with a movable door consisting of front, side and top and bottom walls, of a housing consisting of a back piece, two side pieces, and top and bottom pieces, the side pieces of the door being made to fit closely against the sides of the housing, the bottom piece of the door being pivotally connected with the bottom part of the housing permitting the upper end of the door to swing fore and aft, and a mechanism inclo-sed in the door to control the motion of the swinging door substantially as described.

4. In a vending machine, the combination with a housing, of a door constructed to fit within said housing and having a hinge connection therewith, a receptacle constructed to fit snugly within said housing and having a hinge joint with said door, and a controlling means to control the movement of said door.

5. In a vending machine, the combination with a housing, a door constructed to fit within said housing and having a hinge joint therewith, of a receptacle constructed to fitsnugly with said housing and having a hinge joint with said door, a controlling means to control the movement of said door, and means to swing the receptacle on its hinge joint relatively to the door and housing. 2

6. In a vending machine, the combination with a housing, a door pivoted at its bottom to said housing, and mechanism to control the movement of said door, of a goods receptacle pivotally connected at its bottom with said hinged door.
