To (ZZZ LU/1077a it may concern Be it known that l, PETER Frrn, a subject of the King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and lreland, and residing at Glasgow, Scotland, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in tiasllurrp ing Apparatus, of which the following is a speeili nitioti.
This invention relates to the consumption of gas or gaseous mixtures in gas burning apparatus in which granular material is employed to divide the gas up into minute streams.
The object or my invention is to construct a gas burning apparatus of this type more partieularly adapted for application to domestic firegr: ten, ranges, stoves, hoilera, heaters and the like which will eonsome gas at pressurea of ordinary supply under the control of a co k or cooks and in which an equalized radiant; el'l'eet over the entirti surface area of the tire is atlordtuli with a minimum of gas (JODSllIYlPl'lOfl and a maximum of heat production. i also aim at producing a gas fire which will approxh mate closely both in appearance and utility to an ordinary coal tire and which will have continuous heating surface of substantially the dimensions of the fuel container lire-grate or the like into which it. is titled.

When ignited the gaseous mixture hurns evenly with a hot hlue tlame over the entire surface of the loose material. l may, if desired, place a thin layer of ashestos wool or otherlire-resisting material, in a state ol tine division, over the entire arm of the loose material in a pan. 2. In a gas burnin" apparatus, the combination of areceptace havlng an inlet, and
also having an exit at which latter combnstion takes place a Bunsen nozzle at said inlet for supplyinga combustible mixture of gas and air to the interior of said receptacle, a foraminous element arranged Within said receptacle, said element affording the sole means for the passage of both the gas and th e air toward said exit, a'layer of fire-resisting material in a state of fine division, granular non-combustible material interposed between said foraminous element and said fire-resisting material and affording a passage for the combustible gaseous mixture, said granular material being located outside of the field of combustion, and means for retaining the said non-combustible and thefire-resisting materials in position.
