DOLLI was a K ANTON V. "'KOUBA, 'OF VERCDIGRE, `NEBRASK'.
BANKERS NOTE-CASE.
imanes.
To all whom 15 may concern:
' -Be it known that I, ANToN V. Koni-1A, a citizen of the United States, residing at Verdigre7 in the county of Knox and State of Nebraska, have inrented a new and useful lIinpi-oveniont in Bankers` Note-Cases, ot which the' following is a specification.
This invention relates to a note holding case designed especially for the use of bankers and intended to serve as a tiling case for notes, and to show the date and nionth upon which any particular note may fall due, without interfering' with the alphabetical 'filing of the notes in the tiling cases.' In other words the various notes can be tiled in 'alphabetical order without regard to their dates,-either of making or becoming due, or
'Without regard 'to the length of time they have 'to run and at the saine time the inspection 'of the case will show all notes which may be` due upon any' particular day or dur-y ing "any particular month, and without handling any ofthenotes.-`
In the accoii'ipanying drawings: Figure l is a perspective view looking down upon.A
one ot the cases. Fig'. Z'is a. View of one of the follower blocks. Fig. 3 is a face View of a note with a tab applied tl'iereto.
In constructing the device I employ a suitable tray 'l but I do not wish to be restricted to a tray of any particular make, orlength,
was the device could he adapted for use with trays of various shapes and sizes. 'Preferably my tray is provided with longitudinally extending'interior shoulders 2 running adjacent to and. parallel-lo the top of the tray and follower blocks B have upwardly and outwardly extending ears 4 adapted to rest upon said shoulders and saidpears are also adapted vto have placed thereon various lettei'sot the alphabet7 the said follower blocks `or spacing bloclrsas they may be termed being arranged -in the ease in alphabetical order. These ears while not necessarily integral with the blocks are preferably-formed y by cutting away the upper portions of the.l
blocks from lines adjacent the ends of the 'blocks7 and slightly reducing' the lengths of the blocks, throughout their lower portions', so that said lower portins will fit readily between the shoulders 2 while the ears pr0' lject above the `shoulders but it i's.essential that' the'upper edge of the body portion ofthe blocks 3 oe helow the top lineV of the 4Specification df 'Letters Patent.

are placed in regular order the naines of the months, or -soine designation standingjtor the various months. This` plate may be separate from the casing'o'r ifdesired it may ccnstitute'the rear rend of the casing.
Thenotcsare of 4a. suiiieient length to extend across the casing, and theyhave pi' @ed upon their Iupper margin the-naiiies oithe months as indicated at. 6 or signs or chaiacters represeiitiiiglr thenaines of the'nionths.l and the naines, signs or symbols imprinted upon the notes are arranged in the sauic ou der andare spaced exactly the saine as the characters upon the plate The notes lieing of a length equal to that ot' the plate it necessarily follows that -when the notes are tiled in the case any character upon the note-- representing a certain month will be in enact aline'nient with the corresponding character upon the plate It is of course understood that the if?. fio-- nations of the months placed upon the imtes and also upon the plate 5 are soarranged that they are not overlapped hy any of the en 4, the characters upon the plate occupy, that Aportion ot the plate which corresph to the part assumed tg have been ieii'ioved from the follower blocks in Yfoi-unna" the ra rs 4. As the plate 5 is of a greater height than the notes itwill be obvious that when 'the notes are ar anged in alphabetical order between the follower blocks the vi'ianies of the month-s upon the plate will be clearly visible between fthe ears 4. Upon each note is `placed a tab 7 which tab is secured over the designation of' the month during which the note falls due and the lupper portion of the tab carries 'a numeral or numerals designating the day of the month. This tab must necessarily aline with the naine' of the month in which the note falls due and which is carried by the plate 5. It will thus he obvious that the tabs of all of the notes which are due`duringany particular month will he in regular alinement with the naine of that month upon the plate-5 and the tabs will show the day ofthe month when the notes are'due, and at the same time all notes will be arranged alphabetically in the case. or
example assuming that a note has been given on September 26 for three months and that the said note has been made by John Doe. The note will be placed immediately back of the follower block having the letter D upon its' ears, and Will carry a tab with the numeral 26, and said tab will be secured over the abbreviation or sign carried by the note and standing for the month of December and. When said note has been placed .in the 'case'the tab' will aline with the proper character uplon the plate 5 and will showtliat the note is due December 26, thus Without disturbing the note and without int` ertering-With its filingin alphabetical order.
, I have' also shown the letters Dern at one end ofthe plate and note thus indicating when a tabis placed over said designation upon the note that it is payable on demand.
It is of course obvious that the use of this particular feature'is optional and also that other information can be given in the same Way byeinploying suitable signs and characters 'upon the notes and plate. lVhat I claim is 1"..,A device of the kinddescribed comprising a casing adapted to receive notes arranged in alphabetical order, means arranged at the rear of said notes having the names of the months designated thereupon,
and tabs adapted to be secured upon saidv notes, said tabs indicating the' day ot the vmonth in which a note falls due, and alining with .the designations first mentioned.
-A device of the kind described coinprising a casing adapted to receive notes in alphabetical order, means for spacing saidy notes apart, said means having characters of the alphabet thereupon7 and a4 plate projecting above said notes and having chaif` act-ers thereupon indicative of the various months of the year and -tabs adapted to beseeured to and projectaliove the notes. dud adapted -to aline with the characters 'upony the plate representing the months in which, said notes fall due. i'
3. A device of the kind -idjescribed com-y prising a- `easing adapted to receive notes, means for holding said notes in alphabetical order, tabs carried by said notes and eX- tending above the-notes and indicating the l, day of the month in which the note falls4 due and means arranged to the rear of the note carrying'impiinted matter designating the* 'p rising a casing, follower plates adapted to 'lit in said casing, said ollower plates naving their. upper center portions cut away leaving ear-s, said follower plates having the characters ot" tle alphabet thereupon, and adapted to space notes in al phabetical order,
notes adapted to lit in said casing and having along their upper'margins o haraeters designating the various months of the year, tabsv adapted to be secured to saidiiiargins ing portions of said tabs having the days of the months indicated thereupon, and a back plate having the months designated thereupon vin alinement with the designations- 'aiidproje'cting above the notes, the projecton the margins of the notes and with the tabs thereon.
5 A system of tiling notes comprising a note having the naines of theinontlis print-V ed upon itsl upper marginal portion, a tab adapted to be secured to said note `and to projectabove the'note, said tab being arranged upon or vadjacent'the designation of .the month in which the note falls due and having upon its upwardly extending portionV a designation of the day of the month,
a easing adaptedto receive said note -iiiits alphabetical oi-der, and means arranged in said casing to therear of saidvr note, said.
means displaying designations of the months of theyear in line with those printed upon the margins of the notes.
6. In aliling system for notes, a casing,
notes adapted to be arranged in said casing, means for holding said notes in alphabetical order, each lof said notes, 'having upon its' upper marginal portion the names of the months, a plate-arrangedto the rear of the lsaid notes, said plate havingv the names of the months placed thereupon, the names upon the plate alining With the names of Y the monthsupon the not-es and means adapt'A red' to be seciire'dto the marginal portions ofsaid notes and carrying numerals adapted to. indicate rthe day of the month upon which the note falls due.
