Be it known that I, FRANK B. JUNK, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Sharon, in the county of Mercer and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to a game apparatus, and the object of my invention is to provide a simple, durable and inexpensive game apparatus that will afford considerable amusement and require considerable skill to successfully play.

I attain the above object by an inclined hinged apparatus embodying a rectangular box provided with partitions forming numerous compartments, and these compartments are numbered and are adapted to receive a series of balls or other bodies that are thrown into the box from a prescribed distance. The compartments are numbered and prizes can be offered for the highest total received from a predeterminednumber of balls or other bodies entering the com- The game can be played with or without prizes and provision is made whereby balls or bodies will be deflected into the box and can be easily collected after having been used.

The invention will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and reference will now be had to the drawing, where- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the game j apparatus, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same in connection with a suitable support.

A game apparatus in accordance with this invention comprises an inclined platform 1 supported by a wall 2 and a trough or col-' lecting device 3. Arranged upon the inclined platform 1 is'a rectangular inclined bottom plate 4: and hinged at the upper edge of said bottom plate, as at 5 is a rectangular frame 6 that rests upon said bottom plate and cooperates therewith in forming a rectangular box.

- The frame 6 compartments by equally spaced longitudinal partitions 7 and equally spaced transverse partitions 8, thereby forming compartments 9 that are substantially rectangular. The transverse and longitudinal paris divided into a plurality of" 'titionsare of a depthcorresponding to the frame 6 and the transverse partitions 8 have the front sides thereof, at the upper edges numbered one to SIX inclusive and the numbers are arranged whereby no two adjoining compartmentsare numbered alike. In other words, the numbers are distributed whereby the high and .low numbers will be in dif ferent parts of the frame.

The outer side walls of the frame 6 are provided with brackets 10 for detachable deflectors, the deflectors being in the form of uprights 11 having the upper ends thereof curved, as at 12 and connected by longitudinal bars 13. The deflector used at the front wall 14: of the frame has the uprights 11 provided. with angularly disposed upper ends 15 connected by a single bar 16. This type of deflector is used at the front edge of the frame in order that balls 17 or other bodies can be deposited in the front row of compartments. The other deflectors are shaped whereby they can be nested or closely packed, when not in use. The front wall 14 of the frame 6 has a handle 18 that permits of the frame 6 being elevated whereby the balls or bodies within the compartments 9 can roll down the bottom plate 4: into the trough. In some instances the platform 1 can be dispensed with.

The game apparatus can be utilized in a great many ways and as an instance of its use for game purposes the following is cited: Participants in the game can each be given a predetermined number of balls, for instance, six apiece and each player can toss or throw the balls into the frame from a predetermined distance. After the balls have entered the compartments the numbers of the compartments are totaled. The player receiving the greatest total iswinner of the game, whether a prize is to be awarded or not.
