Application ined :une as,
To czZZ whom 'if may concern? 'Be itl known that l, Asirns D. Galion- Marian` a citizen of Germany, residing' at in the connty ofSan l `rancisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sash Locks, of which the following is a speciication.
This invention relates to sash locks and the object of the invention is to provide a simple' and eiiicient device of this character by which both sashes may -be locked in an)1 adjusted position and prevented from rattling.
Further objects of -this invention will appear as the following' specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, wchich forms a part of this appli-- eation, y'and in which,-
Figure ll is a front elevation showing the device applied. Figi 2 isa section through the sash showing the device in top plan view. Fig. S is a similar View with the top plate Fig'. 4 is a sectional view on the line @L -el' of Fig. 2.v
Referringmore .particularly to the dran ing, l and 2 represent.I the top and bottom' sashes, respectively, of an ordinary window. Secured to the bottom sash is a locking del` vice which may loearranged adjacent either vertical rail of. the n per sash. The device comprises a bottom p ate 3 having a central.
longitudinal channel fl formed therein, a portion of which is screw threaded, as shown at 5. The upper plate 6 is provided with a similar channel 2 having a screw threaded port-ion 8 to correspond with the threaded portion and adapted to receive the operating screw 9 provided with a thinnb'loutton 10 at one end and with a head l1 a-tits opposite end. The channels 4 and 7 are enlarged adjacent. the outer end. of the t plates 3 and 6 so as to receive a channeled head l2 formed on the pressure plate 13. The head -channels to guide the pressure Specification of Iietters Patent.

12 is adapted to he engaged by the head il on the screw 9 so thatthe pressure plate may be moved. ln order to giiide the pressure plate, the saine is provided with a pair of parallel pins ist arranged upon opposite sides of the head l2 and adapted to travel in the channels 15 formed in the plates 3 and G. The lower plate 3 is provided with a downwardly extending flange 16 which is adapted to relieve the pressure `on the attaching screws l7,`which. in this instance oilso join the platestogether. By threading the screw into the plates 3 and 6, the pressnre. plate will be moved away there-from into engagement with the rail of the upper sash, thereby orc-ing'lthe same against the sash head and locking` both sashes against inerement also preventing the sashes from rattling.
lWhatis claimed is sash lock comprising a pair of-scparated attachingy plates, cach having a semicircnlar threaded channel, a screw mountedin said channel and having a. headed end, a pressure plate, a channeled lngon the pressure plate adapted to be removably engagged loythe hea-ded end ot the screw to- 1oe moved in either direction thereby, means for holding the plates together in operative position and for securing the same to the sash said plates having mating semi-chain` lar channels on opposite sides of the thread ed channel, and separated pins arranged on the pressure plate on opposite sides of lng andfadapted to engage said last named plate and prevent the same fromv turning.
In testimony whereofmy signatiire in presence oit' two witnesses.` p Y n ASMUS D. GABDEMEYER.
