,Be it known that I, DAVID Wiener, a citizen of the United States, residingat Galesburg, in the county of Knox and State of ltllinois, have invented a new and useful. Boiler Connection, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to boilers and more particularly to means for connecting water shown.

As hereinbefore stated, the openings 26 are preferably disposed in staggered relation and, therefore, the couplings 52%? are similarly arranged. -F1irtherniore, the coupli'ngs constituting the upper row are pret erably of greater length. than those constitutring particularly to Fig. it. As hereinbeforepointedout, pipes 29 extend forwardly under the header 25. These pipes thus constitute hollow grate bars and the t'rontends of the pipes'ere attached to couplings 37 similar to the couplings'29 hereinbefore described. These couolingstl'l are connected to a header 38 supported in any suitable manner Within the front porplings 41. The upper ends otthe pipesO are disposed parallel with the overhanging portionsof .the sections 6 and thenextend upwardly andare attached to the upper portions of the sections by means of couplings Each of the sections 5 is provided with bute single pipe 43 this pipe, however, l ing similar to the pipes i0 and being Simi larly connected to their sections.

Heretofore when nuts and bolts have been used for similar purposes, the nuts have soon burned ofi under the intense heat to which theyha-ve been subjected end the ports have thus become separated, thereby rendering the boiler unfit for further use It has been found that by using hollow nuts communicating with the interior of the header, the water admitted to the nuts Will prevent them from burning Then too, considerable heetirn surface is thus added to the boiler. In a. boiler, the combinetien with 21 W2 ter containing element, of a hollow nut having an open end projecting into the said element, a, hollow coupling nieznber projectim into said element and having an open end discharging thercinto, a bolt connected at its ends to S2tlClII1filbF andto the nut, and a Water conducting pipe connected to the couplinp member.
