Be it known that I, EDWARD MILNER, of Marquette,

' in the county of Marquette and State of Michigan,

have invented a new and usefullmprovement in Flanged Box-Straps for Lumber-Wagons; and I do declare that the "following is a true and accurate 1 description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification. The nature of this invention relates to a flanged box-strap, by means, of which the sides, ends, and hottoms of wagon-boxes are secured" together and Thednvention consists inau'iron strap, cast or wrought, provided with a bolt and out at its lower end,

and a hook at the top to secure the sides, and with flanges, 'which form slides to receive the end boards.

The hook c, on the top of the strap, fits over'the top of .the side board, and serves, with screws and bolts, to hold the side and bottom boards firmly to- V gether.

.The inner face of the strap is provided with the two flanges h, and with the prolongation of the hook marked e, which has a hole, f, through it. The end boards slide into the grooves formed by the flanges.

To'prevent the side boards from spreading, it is usual to pass a rod through them, with a nut upon one end, which, when screwed up, rests against an iron washer provided for the purpose.

The prolongation, c, does away with this washer, ,as the rod passes through the holes 1, whichhave coincident holes through the side boards to receive the rod.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is The metallic flanged box-strap A, when constructed and'operating substantially as and for the purposes herein described.
