IMPROVEMENT IN DEVICES FOR PREVENTING FLOWS FROM CHOKING.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 105,660, dated July 26, 1870.
. To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. Eocene, of the city and county of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a new anduseful Device to Prevent Plows from Choking, of which the following is a specification.
The nature of my invention, consists in construeting a roller in such a manner between the beam of the plow and the landside of the plow that it will preventthe plow from choking.
Figure lshows a perspective view of my invention connected to a common plow, in which F is the beam. H is the landside of a plow. A is a roller with a flange on the upper end, and made fast to the same. D is a shoulderprojeeting from the inside of the laudside H, and
roller at D. This roller A is in an upright p0- sit-ion, and is made to revolve on the iron or I steel rod E, which passes through the beam F, 1
thence through the roller A, thence through the shoulder D, where it is fastened by a nut. Thus it serves two purposes-one to hold the beam and laudside together, and the other to form an axis for the roller A. The flange prevents the trash from wedging in between the beam F and the upper end of the roller A. The landside His cut away at b, so as to show the lower end ofA and D. Now, when any trash strikes the roller Ait will roll off to one side or the other, for-the roller A will move either way.
I do not claim the lundside H, nor the beam F, nor the rod E; but
I claim- 1. The application of the roller A to the plow, running from the beam F to the landside H, to prevent the plow from choking.
2. The arrangement of the roller A, rod E, platform 0, base D, landside H, and. beam F, constructed to operate as described.
