To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, GEORGE C. ANDERSON,

a citizen of' the United States, residing at Springfield, in the county of Sangamon and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates -to apparatuses to be used in playing games with cards.

The purposes of the invention are.: to provide an apparatus comprising a deck holder, a discard holder, a pencil holder, and a tally-sheet holder in convenient relation to each other and so constructed and arranged as to facilitate the placing of cards in the deck holder or the discard holder or the removal of cardsvtherefrom and to facilitate the placing of tally-sheetsV in` the tally-sheet holder or their removal therefrom; to provide an apparatus neat and attractive in appearance and having a shape advantageous for a display'of advertising matter.

With these ends in viewthe invent-ion consists in the novel features of construction and combinations of parts shown in the annexed drawings to which reference is lhereby made and hereinafter particularly described and finally recited in the claims. Figure l is a top plan of the apparatus of preferred construction. Fig. 2 1s a vertical section on the line X.X. of Fig. 1. Figs. 3 and 4 are respectively a top plan and a side elevation of an apparatus of modified construction; and Fig. 5`is a vertical section on the line Y.Y. of Fig. 4.

The apparatus is primarily intended to be used in playing the-game of cards known as rum but may be used in playing any other game with cards, in which it is desirable to have a receptacle for the deck, a receptacle for the discard cards, and a receptacle for the tally-sheets.V

The base 1 -is preferably a wooden block of suitable dimensions. The sides and ends of the base are beveled as at l to form inclined surfaces for the display of advertising matter.

The discard holder 2 is a rectangular structure of thin sheet metal andhas at each corner an upwardly extending member 2=L flared outwardly at the top as shown. The flared upper parts of the'corner members 2a serve to guide the cards being placed in the holder so that no special care is necessary to properly place the cards in the holder. The edges of the bottom of the discard holder are cut away as shown at 2b in order that .the fingers of the player may not strike against the edges of the bottom of the holder when' placing cards in or removing them from the holder.

The deck holder 3 is a rectangular structure of thin sheet ymetal having vertical angular corner members 3a having their upper ends rounded as shownso that /cards will not stick on the -upper end of the holder. 'The edges of the bottom of the deck holder are cut away as at 3b so that the fingers of the player will not strike against the edges of the bottom of the deck holder in placing the deck in or removing the deck from the holder. The-rectangular tally-sheet holder` 5 has at its ends and at one side a raised wall 43a. It alsohas at its inner side upwardly extending short walls 5b fitting under the bottom of the deck holder 3. The bottom of the deck holder project-ing over the tallysheet holder serves` to prevent accidental displacement of the tally-sheets. The sides of the tally-sheet holder are cutaway asY shown at 5 and 5d to afford room to avccommodate the fingers in placing the tallysheets in o'r removing them from the holder. The space adjacent to the part 5C accommodates the fingers when placing the deck in or removing it from the deck holder.

Corner blocks 4 and intermediate blocks 4 are secured on top of the base l. The discard holder 2 is supported on t-he blocks 4 and 4 at suchl height above the base that t-he fingers. may be conveniently inserted under' the bottom card in the holder. The deck holder 3 is supported on the blocks 4. and the walls 5? at such height above the base that the fingers may be conveniently inserted under the bottom card of the deck in the deck holder.

A trough 6 accommodates a pencil 7 to be used in keeping t-ally.

A felt pad 8 on the underside of the base 1 protects the surface of the furniture on which the game is being played.

Having described the apparatus of preferred construct-ion comprising 4a discardholder, a deck holder, and a tally-sheet. holder all on substantiallyT one level, I will now describe an apparatus` of modified form at such height above the base that the iin.-

Having lfully. described my invention lwhat I claim as new and desire to secure.. by Letters Patent is:

1. A game apparatus comprising a' base, and a deck 4holderqand a discard holder, stationary above the base and spaced apart, therefrom `a distance suiiicient for inserting the 'nngers under the lowest card in either holder.,

8. A game apparatus comprising a base, a stationary discard holder spaced above the base, at a height sufiicient toinsert the fingers below the lowest card inthe holder and having its edges cut away' to accommodate the lingers, a stationary deck holder spaced above the vbase at a height sufficient to permit the insertion of the fingers under the lowest 75 card in the holder and having its edges .cut away 4to accommodate the i'ng'ers anda stationary tally-sheet' holder adapted to sup-l port tally-sheets extending under the deck holder and also having its'edges cut away to 80 accommodate the fingers of the user.

9. In a game apparatus, the combination of a deck holder, a discard holder and means vfor supportin the deck holder and discard holder in position for inserting the fingers 85 under the lowest card in'either holder.
