To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, As'rox Osnm), a subject of the Emperor of Austrial-Hungary, residing at Vineland, in the county of Cumberland and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Tables, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to tables, and the primary object of my invention is to provide a table with a revoluble center piece that can be easily and quickly revolved to place an object upon the center piece in proximity to a person sitting at the table, whereby the object can be easily obtained without the necessity of rising or farreaching for the same.

A further object of this invention is to provide a table of the above type that can be advantageously used as a large dining table, the table being inexpensive to manufacture, durable and neat in appearance.

I attain the above objects'by a mechanical construction that will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.

Reference will now be had to the drawing, 'whereinz Figure 1 is a side elevation of the .table partly broken away and partly in section. Fig. 2 is an enlarged horizontal sectional view of the pedestal of the table, and Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the same.

A table in accordance with this invention comprises a hollow cylindrical pedestal 1 that has the lower end thereof, supported by legs or feet 2. The upper end of the hollow pedestal 1 is provided with an annular angle bracket 3 that supports a table top 4, said table top having a central circular opening 5 in communication with the hollow pedestal. The table top 4 is preferably circular in plan and said table top is provided with a. circular recess 6 and the bottom of'said recess, adjacent to the vertical walls 7 thereof, has a circular ball race 8 for anti-frictimial balls 9. Arranged in the recess (3 upon the balls 9 is a circular center piece 10 that has the bottom thereof provided with a race to receive the balls 9. Arranged transversely of the hollow pedestal 1 are brackets 11 that are provided with bearings 12 and 13. vided with a plate 15 that is suitably connected to the under side of the center piece 10. The shaft is concentric relatively to the )cdestal 1 and the center piece 10, and ad accnt to the lower end thereof there is a horizontal beveled gear wheel 16. The inner side of the hollow pcdestall is provided with a bearing 17 and extending through said bearing and the walls of pedestal is a shaft 18. The outer end of the shaft 18 has a ratchet wheel 21 and engaging said ratchet wheel is a pawl 22 pivotally supported by a bracket 23, carried by the pedestal 1 adjacent to the shaft 18. The outer end of the shaft 18 is reduced to provide a shank 24 and this shank accommodates a detachable crank or handle 25 employed for imparting a rotary movement to the shafts 18 and 14 for revolving the center piece 10.

WVith the revoluble center piece 10 of a less diameter than the table top 4 there is sutlicient room between the center piece 10 and the peripheral edges of the tabletop 4 to accommodate plates and other matter. A person sitting at the table can easily reach under the same and operate the crank or handle 25 whereby the center piece 10 will be revolved to place matter thereon convenient to the person sitting at the table. The gravity pawl 22 permits of the center piece 10 being revolved in the one direction and when in engagement with the ratchet wheel 22, it is impossible for the center piece 10 to revolve in an opposite direction.

It is thought that the operation and utility of the table will be apparent without further dGSCI'lIJtlOIl, and while in the drawing there is illustrated a preferred embodiment of the'invention, it is to be understood that the structural elements are susceptible to suchchanges as fall within the scope of the appended claim.

\Vhat I claim is A table comprising a stationary top having a circular recess in its upper face and with the bottom of said recess atthe marginal portion thereof grooved, bearing balls mounted in and projecting above said groove, a revoluble circular center piece mounted in said recess flush with the upper face of said stationary top and having the marginal portion of its lower face formed with a groove into which extend said bearing balls, a pedestal for supporting said top, a plate fixed centrally to the lower face In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
