This invention relates to anew and improved method of' constructing copper or other metal tips for the toes of shoes and boots, and it consists in const ructing the tip with tough malleable wires attached to its ends, and fastening the tips to theshoeor hoot thereby, `as hereinafter more fully described.
In the accompanying drawingf Figure 1 is a perspective View of a shoe with lny metallic tip applied.
Figure 2 is a view of the top detached.
Similar letters ot' reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the shoe-sole.
B is the upper-leather of the shoe.
O is the tip, made of copper or other suitable metal,
curved and bent so as to correspond with and fit the toe of. the shoe, provided with fastening-Wires D D, of copper or of other tough and strong material, attached to each end of the tip, by soldering or otherwise, as seen in the drawing.
One or more holes are made in the solc, with an awl, at each end of the tip, through which the wires are tightly drawn with pliers. The wires are then cnt olf, and the fastening is then complete.
This metallic lip may be applied by almost any one, to almost any kind of boot or shoe. It does not inter fere with repairs, and is separate and distinct from those tips which can be attached only when the shoe is in the process of manufacture.
