Baris, in'the county of Henry and State of` .Ten nessee, have invented a new and Improved 4Tobacco-Rolling Machine; and I do hereby declare that-the following, isa-full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in thea-rt to. make and 'use "the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specificalon. 1

`ifThis invention relates toimprovements in machines for rolling tobacco for forming it into plugs; and consists oi` a combinatiouof aifeeding apparatus `for the prepared iillin gs and another forfieeding the wrappers, with folding apparatus forfolding the Wrappers overmthe iillings ,and inclosin'g them previous tothe condensing operation of the rollers.

`Italso consists in the combination, with the rotary cutter for cutting the. plugs, ofa sliding spring-ratchet bed-plate.

A represents a feeding-table for the previously-prepared fillings, which' are placed on it by the hand. It has adjustablefside guides arranged for wideningor narrowing the space between them at the lower delivering end.

`After rweiving 'the iilling, the whole is fed in:l a continuons stream upon the roller K and carried between it and the roller L, and thence between the latter and-.the yielding roller M, in*` a thin narrow'strip, upon the delivery and olitting table N, where it passes. under the revolving cutter head O, having ltwo or more blades, andover the sliding plate P, against the upper surface of which the cutters come in contact, and which moves outward with the cutters as long 'as they are in contact with it,

after which it is drawn back by a spring, Q.

The plate P ismade of copper or other soft substance which will not injure the edge, and, sliding along with the edges of -the cutters as long as they are 'in contact with it, prevents damage to them, which would occur if' they were to scrape along over it. 'f

The rollers are divided at the center .on the lines S, and so .arranged on their shafts that they may be separated and disks putin for dividing the spaces'lbetween the iiauges into two grooves `for making narrow plugs,ftl1e v disk of one roller beingofl less diameter and the other of forming a groove in one, nto which 'the projecting rib ot the other works. l n
