UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LEON LEWANDOWSKI, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-THIRD TO NARCYZ RADZYMINSKI, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
COMBINED CURTAIN POLE AND ROLLER FIXTURE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEON LEWANDOWSKI, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Curtain Pole and Roller Fixtures; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in combined curtain poles and roller fixtures.
The object of this invention is to provide a fixture of this character which can bev readily adjusted so as to accommodate different lengths of shade rollers without having to move the fixture itself and which also can be adjusted so that the curtain pole can be arranged at any desired distance from the window casing.
My invention therefore consists in the features of construction and combination of 1. Fig. 6 is a section on line 66, Fig. 1.
Again referring to the drawings ct represents a section of a window casing to which is secured my fixture. This fixture comprises a vertically arranged plate 1 which is provided with an integrally formed arm 2 which extends sidewise therefrom at a right angle to said plate 1 so that it lies flat against the casing. This arm 2 is provided with a flange 3 at each side which extends longitudinally thereof so that the said arm is T-shaped in cross section. The plate 1 and the arm 2 are secured to the casing by means of screws 5. At the upper end of the plate 1 is formed a forwardly projecting ear 6 which is provided with a socket 7 and at the lower. end is formed another forwardly projecting ear 8 which is provided Specification of Letters Patent.

with a socket 9. The curtain pole bracket consists of a horizontal arm 12 which is provided with a flange 13 at each side which extends longitudinally thereof so that the said arm is T-shaped in cross-section. At its inner end said bracket arm 12 is provided the said flanges being adapted to fit around the flanges 13 on the bracket arm 12 so as to fasten the said bar 18 to the arm 12 while at the same time leaving it free to slide on the said arm 12. A thumb screw 21 extends through the said bar 18 and is adapted to engage the upper surface of the bracket arm 12 so that the said bar may be locked in any desired position. On the arm 2 is slidably supported the standard 22 which supports the end of the shade roller. This standard is provided at its lower end at each side with an L-shaped flange 23, said flange being arranged to inclose the flanges 3 on the said arm 2 so as to hold the said standard on the said arm while permitting it to be slid back and forth on the said arm.
The said standard 22 is provided with a so as to lock the standard in any desired po-v sition on said arm. The standard 22 is provided with means for engaging the end of the shade roller which in this instance is represented by .an opening 26. I
When applying my invention one of my fixtures is permanently secured at each side of the window casing and said fixtures are spaced apart the required distance to receive between them the shade roller and the curtain pole. After the plate 2 has been secured in position the standards 22 are adjusted back and forth so as to be the exact distance apart to accommodate the rollers and this adjustability does away with the necessity of the exact measurement now required where the shade roller supports are permanently secured in position. After the shade rollers have been adjusted the curtain pole is laid on the books 19 on the ends of the bars 18 and the pole can be adjusted toward or away from the window by sliding the bars 18 in or out on the bracket arms 12.
What I claim is,
1. In a combined curtain pole and shade fixture, a plate provided with a forwardly projecting ear at its upper end and at its lower end, said ears being provided with sockets, a bracket arm provided with a downwardly extending stud adapted to fit in the socket in the ear at the upper end of said plate, said bracket arm having a longitudinally extending flange at each side, a bar provided with a hook at its forward end aranged on top of said bracket arm, said bar having a pair of L-shaped flanges at its opposite end adapted to engage the flanges on the bracket arm and a screw mounted on said bar and adapted to engage with said bracket arm and a brace bar formed int-egrally with said bracket arm and provided with a stud adapted to fit into the socket in the ear at the bottom of the plate, for the purpose set forth.
2. In a combined curtain pole and shade fixture, a plate provided. with an integrally formed arm extending sidewise from said plate at a right angle thereto, said arm having a longitudinally extending flange at each side thereof, a standard adapted to support one end of the shade roller and having a pair of L-shaped flanges adapted to engage the flanges 011 said arm and having a lip which extends over said arm, a set screw mounted in said lip and adapted to engage said arm, said plate having a forwardly pro jecting ear at its upper end and at its lower end, said ears being provided with sockets, a bracket arm provided with a downwardly extending stud adapted to lit in the socket in the ear at the upper end of said plate, said bracket arm having a longitudinally ex tending flange at each side, a bar provided with a hook at its forward end arranged on top of said bracket arm, said bar having a pair of L-shaped flanges at its opposite end adapted to engage the flanges on the bracket arm and a screw mounted on said bar and adapted to engage with said bracket arm and a brace bar formed integrally with said bracket arm and provided with a stud adapted to lit into the socket in the ear at the bottom of the said. plate, for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof, I sign the foregoing specification, in the presence of two witnesses.
