NECK YOKE FASTENER.
APPLIoATroN FILED 1116.29, 1911.
Patentd Mar. 26, 1912.
GEORGE W. I-IURST, OF LAKE ARTHUR, LOUISIANA.
NECK-YOKE FASTENER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led August 29, 1911.
Patented Mar. 26, 1912. Serial No. 646,757.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. I-IUns'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lake Arthur, in the parish of Calcasieu and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Neck- Yoke Fasteners, of which the following is a specificatiom This invention relates to devices for holding the neck-yoke against removal from the wagon tongue, and its object is to provide a simple, cheap and durable holder of this kind.
The invention also has for its object to provide a holder of this kind which can be readily attached to any ordinary wagon tongue, which will not interfere with the free play of the neck-yoke.
With these objects in view, the invention consists in a novel construction and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention is illustrated in the accompaying drawing, in which a perspective view thereof is shown.
Referring specifically to the drawing, 5 denotes the forward portion of a wagon tongue to which the invention is applied. The neck-yoke 6 is carried by a ring 7 which its loosely on the tongue. To the end of the tongue is secured a strap 8 which fits the top and bottom thereof and is bolted or otherwise fastened thereto. The strap has a bend in front of the tip of the tongue, which bend is spaced from said tip to form an eye 9. That portion of the strap which is on the bottom of the tongue has a ldownward bend 10. To the eye 9 is connected a split ring 11, to which latter is connected one end of a double snap-hook 12, the other end of which is connected to a swivel link 13. To the bend 10 is connected a split ring 14, which latter is also connected to the swivel link. The snap hook, swivel link and split rings form a connection between the eye 9 and the bend 10, and as the ring 7 fits that portion of the tongue which is between said eye and bend, it is eii'ectually prevented from slipping ofi' the tongue, but is free to slide between said parts so as not to interfere with the free play of the neck-yoke. The connection can be readily applied to any ordinary Wagon tongue, no specially constructed tongue being required, and said connection can also be readily broken to release the ring 7 and permit removal of the neck-yoke.
I claim:
The combination with a wagon tongue, a ring thereon, and a neck-yoke carried by the rlng; of a strap secured to the top and bottom of the tongue, said strap extending in a bend in front of the tip of the tongue and spaced therefrom, to form an eye, and that portion of the strap which is on the bottom of the tongue having a downward bend, between which bend and the eye the ring is mounted, and a separable connection between the eye and the bend.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. HURST.
