To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JACOB ANDRES, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Helena, in the county of Sandusky and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Nozzle for Disinfectant and Wall- Paper-Removing Apparatus; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,

and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to the nozzles of apparatus for applying disinfectants to the corners or angles of rooms, or the like and also to the nozzles of apparatus for removing paper from the walls of rooms by the application of steam thereto.

The object of my invention is the pro vision of a combination nozzle of this character, which is simple and eflicient in its construction and operation and is easily operable to direct a fluid to different parts thereof as it may be desired to operate on plain walls or to discharge a disinfectant into, or loosen paper in, the ceiling and corner angles of rooms.

The invention is fully described in the following specification, and while in its broader aspect it is capable of embodiment in numerous forms, a preferred embodiment thereof is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which, v

Figure 1 is a plan of the back of my improved nozzle with a portion broken away. Fig. 2 is a cross-section thereof on the line w, w in Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a similar enlarged section of the forward portion of the nozzle.

Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the main nozzle of my invention which is provided at its edge entirely around the same with a depending flange 2 to form a pan-shaped member for confining steam therein when its flange edge is resting flat against a wall. This nozzle may be of any suitable size or shape and is provided longitudinally thereof at its central portion with a steam distributing chamber 3 having rows of exit openings 4: in its bottom and sides, as indicated. The conduit 5 is secured to the back of the nozzle with one end in communication with the steam chamber 3 and with its other end adapted for the attaching of a hose 6 or the like thereto which connects said conduit with any suitable source of steam or fluid supply. It is apparent with this construction that steam passes from the source of supply through the hose 6 and conduit 5 into the distributing chamber 3 where it is discharged in different directions through a multiplicity of orifices 4 into the chamber formed by the nozzle 1 when resting against a wall or other flat surface. This manner of distributing the steam causes it to be delivered equally and quickly to the entire surface covered by the nozzle so that a much more rapid and efficient removal of paper or other covering from a wall or ceiling is possible than is the case with the nozzles of this character in which the steam is delivered to only one or two points in the nozzle.

For the purpose of discharging steam or other fluid into corners and crevices which are not accessible to the main nozzle 1, an elongated auxiliary nozzle 7 is provided along the outer forward edge of the nozzle 1 and auxiliary nozzles 8 are provided along the side. edges of the nozzle 1, said auxiliary nozzles each having a plurality of discharge orifices located along the outer edge thereof and disposed to direct a fluid therefrom into corners or crevices adjacent to the associated lower flange edge of the main nozzle, the orifices in the auxiliary nozzles being indicated at 9. The nozzles 7 and 8 have their chambers separated and are in independent communication with the supply conduit 5 through tubes 10 leading from such conduit, as is apparent. A valve 11 is located in the conduit 5 and a valve 12 is located in each of the tubes 10 leading to the separate auxiliary nozzles to control the passage of fluid to the main nozzle 1 and to the respective auxiliary nozzles 7 and 8 as may be desired, or to permit a shutting off of fluid from all of said nozzles.

The nozzle 1 is provided on its back with a U-shaped handle 13 for the operator to grasp in removing paper within his reach, and this handle is provided at the rear side thereof with a spur 14 to which a pole or handle member 15 may be attached for high work.

While my improved nozzle has been described with particular reference to its use in connection with the application of steam to wall paper for the removing of the same from walls, it is also'admirably adapted for use in spraying disinfectants in either vapor or liquid form into the corners or crevices of rooms, beds and other pieces of furniture, trees and any article which it may be desired to spray for such purpose.

I wish it understood that my invention is not limited to any specific construction or arrangement of the parts except in so far as such limitations are specified in the claims.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is,

1. A nozzle of the class described comprising a pan-like member having a fluid distributing chamber therein, an auxiliary nozzle carried by said pan-like nozzle along one edge thereof, and means for selectively con trolling the admission of fluid to said distributing chamber and auxiliary nozzle from a common source of supply.

2. In an apparatus of the class described, a main pan-like fluid distributing nozzle and an auxiliary nozzle carried by said main nozzle at one edge thereof and having its discharge orifices disposed to direct fluid away from the associated edge of said main nozzle, and means for selectively controlling the admission of a fluid to said nozzles from a common source of supply.

3. In an apparatus of the class described,

a main pan-like fluid distributing nozzle having a fluid distributing chamber therein for distributing fluid in a plurality of directions within said nozzle, an auxiliary nozzle carried by the main nozzle along one edge thereof, a conduit leading to said distributing chamber and having connection with a source of fluid supply, a connection between said auxiliary nozzle and conduit, and valves located in said conduit and said latter connection for controlling the admission of fluid to said chamber and auxiliary nozzle, substantially as described.

4:- In an apparatus of the class described, a main pan-like fluid distributing nozzle, auxiliary nozzles carried by the main nozzle at its forward and side edges and having their discharge orifices arranged to direct fluid adjacent to the associated edge of the main nozzle, and means for selectively controlling the admission of fluid to said main and auxiliary nozzles from a common source of supply.
