Be it known that I, CHARLES J. SoHN-AUs, a citizen of the United States, residing at 1385 Hamilton-avenue, St. Louis, Missouri, have invented a certain new'and useful Improvement in Post-Brackets, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevational view of my bracket in position on a post. Fig. 2 is a side elevational View partly in section. Fig. 8 is a detailed View of the band stirrup. Fig. 4 is a bottom plan view.
This invention relates to a new and useful improvement in post brackets, designed particularly for securing articles such as fan motors, etc. to posts.
The object of this inventionis to enable the bracket to be placed in position at any point on the post, the band being adjustable so as to enable the bracket to be attached to posts of different sizes.
While I have shown my improved bracket for supporting motors in position, it is obvious that the bracket could be used for other purposes.
In the drawings, 1 indicates a post (a bedpost being illustrated) and 2 is a casing preferably arched to straddle rings or bars on the post, allowing the bracket to be mounted at any point desired and having feet 3 which are preferably faced with felt strips 4, said feet straddling the post. These feet are connected by the bridge portion of the bracket, the upper end of the bracket terminating in a mount for the motor. The motor mount is in the form of a yoke 6 which is rotatably adjustable in the bracket,

The ends a and b are thus held in position without requiring the use of fastening devices and when the stirrup is moved outwardly from the post by means of the butterfiy nut, the band is tightened and the bracket securely held in position. This manner of arranging the band with both ends free is especially desirable as the bracket can be mounted at any point of the support even though the support is a part ofa continuous piece or has knobs or bars which would prevent the band being slipped into position longitudinally of the posts.
What I claim is:
1. In a device of the character described, the combination of a bracket having means for cooperating with a post, a stirrup adjustably mounted in the bracket, and a flexible binding means with which said stirrup cooperates.
2. In a device of the character described,
the combination of a bracket having feet for engagement with a post, a stirrup arranged in the bracket between said feet, means foradjusting said stirrup toward and from the post and a flexible binding means cooperating with said stirrup.
3. In a device of the character described. the combination of a bracket having extremities for engagement with a post, a stirrup arranged between said extremities. means for moving said stirrup toward and from the post and a band having free ends which are threaded through thestirrup and passed around the post.
4. In a device of the character described, the combination of a bracket. means for socuring said bracket in position on a post, said means comprising a movable member, and a band, one end of which band lies next to the post; said band passing through. said movable member, then around said post. and
again through said movable member, the opposite end of said band passing around the post and terminating between the folds of one of its 100 s.
5. In a devlce of the character described, the combination of a bracket, means for securing said bracket in position on a post; said means comprising a movable member and a band, which band is threaded through said movable member and passed around the post, the end of said band being free whereby a loop of the band is adjustable and the bracket may be secured in position on the post at any point.
