UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMAN L. FRANKE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
CLOTHES-PIN BAG.
To all 'whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, HERMAN L. FRANKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes-Pin Bags, of which the following is a specication.
My present invention relates to clothes pin receptacles, and more particularly to a bag which may be readily manufactured at a small cost, my object being to provide one which will be convenient in use, both in suspension from a stationary object, and upon the person of the user.
With this in mind my invention resides in the structural features to be hereinafter described with relation to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure l is a plan view. F ig. 2 is a side elevation with the lid raised slightly, and F ig. 3 is a perspective View of the wire bag frame and the attached lid frame.
Referring now to these drawings, I provide a bag 1, which has a closed base, and the upper edges of which are bound around a wire frame to be hereinafter described; this frame serving to hold the mouth of the bag open at all times, and having means to pivotally support the lid frame; and this lid frame, which will also be hereinafter described, being covered with material similar to that of the bag l, to provide a lid 2 constituting a closure for the bag.
In forming the bag frame, I utilize a single piece of wire 3 which, at a central point is bent to form an upstanding loop 4, twisted to strengthen the same; this loop 4, projecting vertically, and at right angles to the straight portions 5, of the wire, extending at opposite sides thereof. At the ends of the straight portions 5, the extensions of the wire 8 are bent to form loops 6 and, beyond said loops, are bent together in a U-shape form, and in substantially the same plane with the straight portions 5, their extremities being united by inter-engaging eyes 7. The lid frame is formed also of a single piece of wire bent to a U-shape, to

correspond to that of the bag frame, the extensions 8 of said lid frame being bent through the end loops 6 of the bag frame, whereby to provide a hinge or pivot for swinging movement of the lid. The lid frame also has an intermediate twisted loopv 9, the extreme end of which is bent back thereon in spaced relation to form a hook 10 adapted for engagement upon apclothes line or upon the belt of the user.
From t-he foregoing it will be seen that the device is inexpensive and capable of convenient and labor saving use, inasmuch as when closed, the bag may be suspended from any suitable hook, by means of the loop 4 of the bag frame, and when opened, may be suspended either from the clothes line, or the belt of the user, by means of the hook 10.
I claim:
l. The combination of a bag closed at one end, a frame for holding the opposite end of the bag open, and a lid for the bag, comprising a frame hinged to the bag frame, the said bag frame embodying an upstanding loop at the inner hinged edge of the lid, and the said lid having a hook intermediate its ends at its outer free edge.
2. The combination of a bag closed at one end, a frame for holding the opposite end of the bag open, and comprising a single piece of wire bent to form intermediate and end loops at one side, and forward connected extensions, a lid for the bag, embodying a frame comprising a single piece of wire bent to form an intermediate loop and extensions, the ends of which are engaged through the said end loops of the bag frame, the said intermediate loops of the lid frame and bag frame, constituting means to suspend the bag in the open and closed positions from suitable supports.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HERMAN L. FRANKE.
