E. N. HUMPHREY. RAZOR STROP HOLDER. APPLICATION FILED 11111. 20, 1911.

ERNEST N. I-IUMPHREY, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO TRAUT AND HINE MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, A CORPORA- TION OF CONNECTICUT.
RAZOR-STROP HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 19, 1911.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ERNEST N. HUMPI-IREY, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Britain, Hartford county, State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Razor-strop Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to a new and improved holder for razor strops and the like.
The object of this invention is to provide an exceedingly inexpensive and simple device for holding a razor strop or the like.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an edge elevation of my improved holder as in use. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the holder alone.
The holder comprises a flat strip of metal in which 1 represents the main body portion which is preferably broadest at its inner end, the outer end being tapered and turned back to form a hook 2. At the broader end, I provide at each edge two upturned ears 33.
4 is a keyhole passage which is, by preference, formed near the rear end of the main body portion 1.
The ears 3-3 are formed slightly ahead of the extreme rear end of the body portion, as will be seen in Fig. 1.
I have shown the device as employed with a bureau drawer, or, indeed, the drawer of any piece of furniture. In this case 5 represents a drawer. 6 represents the frame of a bureau. When the drawer 5 has been opened slightly, the rear or broader end of the holder is inserted and turned up to the position shown in Fig. 1, whereupon the ears 33 will stand to the rear of the frame 4. When the drawer 5 is closed, the main body 1 of the holder will be held between the front of the drawer and said main frame, thereby preventing the ears 83 from becoming disengaged from said frame.
7 represents a razor strop which may be secured to the hook 2. The user, when the parts are so arranged, may readily straighten out the strop 6 and use it for the intended purpose. To free the holder it is merely necessary to open the drawer 5, whereupon the outer end of the holder may be tipped up so as to free the ears from the frame 6.
While I have shown my razor strop holder as secured in one of the most convenient ways, it is obvious that in the event a key, nail or other suitable projection is handy, said holder may be readily secured thereto by passing said key, nail or other suitable projection through the passage 4.
My invention is preferably made from thin, spring, sheet metal stock, whereby the razor strop in use will not be too rigidly held, and whereby it is possible to attach said holder to almost any bureau unless, indeed, the drawers are so tight as to provide no clearance Whatever.
It will be seen that a distinct advantage is secured in providing the cars at a point somewhat forward of the inner end of the main body portion, since it is possible to secure a longer bearing upon the upper edge at one side of the drawer than would be pos sible if the car or cars were provided only at the extreme inner end.
\Vhat I claim is:
In a holder for razor strops, a fiat body portion of sheet metal, a hook at the forward end thereof, two oppositely positioned lateral lugs at the side edges of said body portion near the rear end thereof, said lugs being turned up at an angle to the plane of the main body, the forward edges of said ears facing toward said hook.
ERNEST N. HUMPHREY.
