Abstract
A process for the preparation of methyl ethers of jatropha oilinvolves processes of filtration with separation of attendant impurities, neutralization of free fatty acids, oil washing with salt solution and water, decontamination and reesterification. Jatropha oil with content of free fatty acids of 5-20 mg KOH/g is used, and neutralization thereof is performed by esterification with strong sulphuric acid in amount of 1.5 % of weight for 2 hours at a temperature of 60-65°C with constant stirring with separation of water and alcohol. Methanol and sulphuric acid are taken in mole ratio of 6:1, and refined oil is fed for reesterification with addition of methanol and catalyst KOH.
