Abstract

Smoking products including reconstituted tobacco sheets containing pulp containing calcium carbonate

The present invention relates to a smoking product comprising a pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet containing calcium carbonate.

In addition to tobacco leaves, homogenized tobacco material can also be used in the manufacture of tobacco products. This homogenized tobacco material is usually made from parts of the tobacco plant that are less suitable for making tobacco, such as tobacco stalks or tobacco dust. Usually, tobacco dust is a by-product of the processing of tobacco leaves during the manufacturing process.

Common forms of homogenized tobacco material are reconstituted tobacco sheet and cast leaf. Sheets of homogenized tobacco material can be prepared by mixing tobacco dust and a binder to form a pulp, using the pulp to form a tobacco web, and casting the viscous pulp onto a moving metal belt. Alternatively, a low viscosity, high moisture pulp can also be used to produce reconstituted tobacco in a process similar to the papermaking process. Homogenized tobacco webs can be cut into reconstituted tobacco shreds in a manner similar to whole leaf tobacco to produce tobacco shred filler suitable for rolling tobacco and other smoking products.

The purpose of the present invention is to provide a pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet containing calcium carbonate and capable of reducing smoke components, and a smoking product comprising the same.

However, the technical issues to be solved by the present invention are not limited to the above-mentioned issues, and other issues not mentioned will be clearly understood by ordinary technicians in this field through the following description.

Hereinafter, the embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the process of describing the present invention, when it is judged that the specific description of the relevant known functions or components will unnecessarily confuse the present invention, its detailed description will be omitted. Hereinafter, a smoking product including a pulp-reconstituted tobacco sheet containing 10 to 60% by weight of calcium carbonate according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the embodiments and the accompanying drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to these embodiments and the accompanying drawings.

The present invention provides a smoking product having a smoking substance portion and a filter portion located downstream of the smoking substance portion, and comprising a pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet containing 10 to 60% by weight of calcium carbonate.

In the present invention, "smoking article" may refer to any product that can provide a smokable product or smoking experience, whether it is based on tobacco, tobacco derivatives, expanded tobacco, reconstituted tobacco or tobacco substitutes. Referring to FIG. 1 , the smoking article (100) may be a combustion-type smoking product, which includes a filter portion (110) wrapped in a filter packaging paper (110a), a smoking substance portion (120) wrapped in a smoking substance packaging paper (120a), and a tipping paper (130) connecting the filter portion (110) and the smoking substance portion (120).

According to an embodiment of the present invention, the calcium carbonate may have a diameter of 0.5 μm or less. The calcium carbonate used in the present invention is heavy calcium carbonate, and its surface area may be 25 m ² /g or less. In the present invention, by using calcium carbonate meeting the above range, the smoke components are reduced, and a smoking product excellent in taste intensity, smoke volume, throat feeling, harmonious taste, peculiar taste, clean aftertaste, etc. is manufactured.

The pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet of the present invention is the same as the ordinary reconstituted tobacco sheet, including tobacco shreds, tobacco byproducts, etc. The tobacco byproducts refer to byproducts produced in the process of rolling tobacco, for example, the byproducts may include tobacco leaves and stems, tobacco powder, etc. The tobacco may be one or more selected from the group consisting of yellow type, burley type and oriental type.

According to an embodiment of the present invention, the pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet may further include a binder. Due to the binder, tobacco byproducts and calcium carbonate may be firmly bonded and may be preferably included in the sheet in an amount of 5 to 20% by weight. In particular, methylcellulose is preferably used as the binder. The methylcellulose is particularly mixed with calcium carbonate and tobacco byproducts to form a colloid, thereby reducing smoke components such as formaldehyde.

According to another embodiment of the present invention, the smoking material part may include tobacco shreds in addition to the pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet. The smoking material part may include pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet and tobacco shreds in a mixing weight ratio of 25~75:75~25. Preferably, the mixing weight ratio may be 45~55:55~45, which has been proven to have an excellent effect of reducing tobacco components within the scope of the present invention; more preferably, the mixing weight ratio may be 50:50. The tobacco shreds may be prepared by slicing at least one type of tobacco selected from the group consisting of yellow type, burley type and oriental type.

According to one embodiment of the present invention, the smoking substance portion is characterized in that it does not include a humectant. In addition, the smoking substance portion does not include a substance that generates a liquid aerosol. As described above, the smoking product is a "burning type" smoking product and corresponds to a traditional cigarette that is ignited and used, rather than an electrically heated cigarette.

The smoking substance part does not include humectants and aerosol-generating biomass, but flavorings may be further added. Flavorings may include licorice, sucrose, fructose syrup, isosweet, cocoa, lavender, cinnamon, cardamom, celery, fenugreek, bittersweet, sandalwood, bergamot, geranium, honey extract, rose oil, vanilla, lemon oil, orange oil, peppermint oil, kudzu, brandy, jasmine, chamomile, menthol, ylang-ylang, sage, spearmint, ginger, coriander or coffee, etc.

In a smoking product according to another embodiment of the present invention, the calcium carbonate included in the pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet may preferably be 55 to 65% by weight, more preferably 60% by weight. The above content is the range of reducing smoke components confirmed in the embodiment of the present invention.

The smoking product of the present invention is characterized in that specific smoke components are reduced during combustion. The specific smoke components may be one or more selected from the group consisting of nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide (CO), formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, 1,3-butadiene, benzene and benzopyrene.

In the present invention, the smoking substance portion (120) may be wrapped by a smoking substance wrapping paper (120a). For example, it may be formed of paper or cellulose wrapping paper. However, the present disclosure is not necessarily limited thereto.

In the present invention, the smoking product includes a filter portion (110). For example, the filter portion may be a single filter, a double filter, or a triple filter. In addition, the filter portion may include at least one of a porous matrix structure, a tube structure, and a paper tube structure. The filter may include a fiber-shaped, filament-shaped, or both filter bundles containing at least one of a polymer, paper, cellulose acetate, activated carbon, and carbon. However, the present invention is not limited thereto.

The filter material may further include at least one filter material widely known in the art, such as a carbonaceous adsorbent or activated carbon, etc.

A capsule (not shown) may be included in the interior of the filter nozzle. The capsule may have a structure in which a content liquid containing fragrance is wrapped with a film, and for example, the capsule may have a spherical or cylindrical shape. The material forming the capsule film may be a natural material, starch and/or a gelling agent. For example, in the case of a natural film, it may be composed of agar, pectin, sodium alginate, glycerol, etc. As a gelling agent, gellan or gelatin may be used. In addition, a gelling aid may be further used as a material forming the capsule film. For example, calcium chloride may be used as a gelling aid. In addition, a plasticizer may be further used as a material forming the capsule film. Here, glycerol and/or sorbitol may be used as a plasticizer. In addition, a coloring agent may be further used as a material forming the capsule film. As a solvent for the flavoring contained in the solution inside the capsule, for example, medium chain fatty acid triglyceride (MCTG) can be used. In addition, the inner solution may include other additives, such as pigments, emulsifiers, and thickeners, but not limited thereto. In addition, the inner solution of the capsule may include flavorings, such as menthol, plant essential oils, etc., but not limited thereto.

In addition, the filter portion may also include a tipping paper wrapping the filter, and the tipping paper may be, for example, a paper material, but is not limited thereto. The tipping paper may not have perforations. The smoking product of the present invention is characterized in that it has an excellent effect of reducing smoke components even if no perforations are formed on the tipping paper.

Below, the embodiments will be described in detail with reference to the attached drawings. In the absence of other definitions, all terms used herein, including technical or scientific terms, have the usual meanings understood by ordinary technicians in this field. Commonly used terms that are the same as dictionary definitions should be understood as meanings consistent with the usual content of the relevant technology, and should not be overly idealized or interpreted as formal meanings unless explicitly mentioned in this application.

[Implementation example]

<Preparation of pulp-reconstituted tobacco flakes>

A slurry containing 60% calcium carbonate was prepared according to the composition shown in Table 1 below. After mixing the above ingredients, water was added to prepare a reconstituted tobacco flake slurry.

The slurry was extruded and dried to prepare reconstituted tobacco flakes. As a result, the reconstituted tobacco flakes of Preliminary Example 2 showed a good shape without breaking, and showed excellent effects in terms of tobacco taste during actual smoking. The reconstituted tobacco flake slurry of Preliminary Example 2 was used in subsequent experiments.

<Manufacturing hand-rolled cigarettes>

Non-perforated hand-rolled cigarettes (n=3) were prepared by mixing the pulp reconstituted tobacco sheets prepared in the above embodiment and general rolling tobacco shreds in the weight ratio shown in Table 2. Due to the properties of the pulp reconstituted tobacco sheets, its swelling degree is lower than that of general tobacco shreds, so the filling amount (actual weight) is slightly higher than that of general tobacco shreds. The resistance and hardness of the manufactured rolling cigarettes during smoking were measured and are shown in Table 2.

As a result, it was confirmed that hand-rolled cigarettes including the pulp reconstituted tobacco sheets of the present invention are equivalent in terms of hardness and resistance during smoking compared to rolled cigarettes using only tobacco shreds.

<Check the composition of tobacco smoke>

The smoke components produced by burning the manufactured cigarettes were analyzed, and the results are shown in Figures 2 and 3 and Table 3 below. Figures 3 and Table 3 show the values converted to the amount of smoke components produced per weight, and Figure 2 shows the reduction in smoke components per cigarette.

When the letters are the same, it means there is no statistically significant difference (p>0.05).

From the above results, it can be seen that in the hand-rolled cigarettes of the embodiment including pulp-reconstituted tobacco sheets, compared with the comparative example 1 including ordinary tobacco shreds, the contents of CO, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, 1,3-butadiene, benzene and benzopyrene are all reduced, and in particular, the reduction in smoke components increases with the increase in the ratio of pulp-reconstituted tobacco sheets.

In addition, the gas composition produced when smoking a cigarette was measured without considering the weight and is shown in Table 4 (general composition) and Table 5 (specific composition).

The weight of the cigarettes of Examples 1 to 3 increased according to the recipe of the pulp, but similar to Comparative Example 1, all puffs were confirmed to be at the level of 8.05 to 8.9. In particular, it was confirmed that all smoke components in general components and special components were reduced as the pulp content increased, and the smoke components were reduced as the calcium carbonate content increased.

<Confirmation of the effect by adhesive type>

After using the pulp-reconstituted tobacco sheets of the above-mentioned preliminary example 2 and the pulp-reconstituted tobacco sheets of the above-mentioned preliminary example 3 to make cigarettes, the smoke components thereof were measured, and the results are shown in FIG4 .

As shown in Figure 4, it can be confirmed that the formaldehyde content is reduced when methyl cellulose is used as a binder instead of guar gum.

<Sensory evaluation>

Regarding the above-mentioned Comparative Example 1 and Example 2 and Example 3, sensory evaluation was conducted on taste intensity, smoke volume, throat feeling, harmonious taste, foreign taste and clean aftertaste, and the results are shown in Figure 5 and Table 6. The sensory evaluation was conducted on 25 evaluation panel members using cigarettes of each example 2 weeks after production, and the total score was 9 points.

From the above results, it can be confirmed that despite the reduction of smoke components, the smoking product of the present invention has a similar level of sensory evaluation results compared with rolled cigarettes containing general tobacco shreds.

In summary, the embodiments are described through limited embodiments and drawings, and ordinary technicians in this field can make various modifications and variations to the above descriptions. For example, the described technology is performed in a different order from the described method, and/or the described components are combined or combined in a different form from the described method, or replaced or replaced by other components or equivalents to obtain the same effect. A smoking product having a smoking substance portion and a filter portion located downstream of the smoking substance portion, wherein the smoking substance portion comprises a pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet, the pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet comprises 10 to 60 wt % of calcium carbonate, the calcium carbonate has a diameter of less than 0.5 μm and a surface area of less than 25 m ² /g. The smoking product as described in claim 1, wherein the pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet also includes an adhesive. A smoking product as described in claim 2, wherein the adhesive comprises methylcellulose. The smoking product as described in claim 1, wherein the smoking substance portion also includes a roll of tobacco shreds. The smoking product as described in claim 4, wherein the smoking substance portion includes the pulp reconstituted tobacco sheet and the rolled tobacco shreds in a mixed weight ratio of 25-75:75-25. A smoking product as described in claim 1, wherein the smoking substance does not include a moisturizer. The smoking product as described in claim 1, wherein the smoking product is a combustion-type smoking product.
