Description of the invention (/) [Background of the invention] The present invention relates to an ink container for supplying ink to an inkjet printer. More specifically, the invention relates to a method and apparatus for inserting and removing ink containers from a receiving station in an inkjet printer. Inkjet printers frequently use an inkjet print head mounted on a carriage that is moved relative to a print medium such as paper. As the print head moves relative to the print medium, a control system activates the print head to place or eject ink drops on the print medium to form images and text. The ink is supplied to the print head, either by an ink supply integrated with the print head (as in the case of a disposable print cartridge), or by being separable from the print head and replaced. One ink supply. One previously used printing system uses an ink supply that carries a carriage. This ink supplier is integrally formed with the print head, and when the ink system is used up, the entire print head and ink supply are replaced. Alternatively, the ink supplier may be provided with a carriage, and may be separated from the print head and replaced. In the case where the ink supply is detachably replaced, the ink supply is replaced when the ink is used up. Thereafter, the print head is replaced at the end of its life. Regardless of where the ink supply is located within the printing system, it is important that the ink supply provides a reliable ink supply to the inkjet print head. The current demand for inkjet printing systems is the use of replaceable ink containers that are easy to install and remove. The ink container should be installed to produce a reliable fluid connection to the printer. The ink container should be relatively easy to manufacture, thereby helping to reduce the cost of ink supply. The reduction of the ink supply cost helps to reduce the size of this paper. 4 This paper size applies the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210 X 297 mm). -Order ---------- · Printed by the Consumer Cooperatives of the Intellectual Property Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs 505573 A7 B7 V. Description of the Invention (I) (Please read the precautions on the back before filling this page) Low print System cost per page. In addition, these ink containers should be compact and configured to be inserted into an inkjet printing system to maintain a relatively small overall height of the printing system while allowing a low-profile printing system. [Inventive Discussion] One aspect of the present invention is a replaceable ink container for supplying ink to an inkjet printing system. The inkjet printing system has a receiving station mounted on a scanning carriage. The receiving station has a fluid inlet and a pair of guide rails extending along each side of the fluid inlet. The replaceable ink container includes a fluid outlet configured for connection to a fluid inlet associated with a receiving station. The replaceable ink container also includes a pair of rail joints extending outward. Each of the pair of guide rail joints is arranged and arranged in a replaceable ink container to be engaged with each of the pair of guide rails, and guides the replaceable ink container to the receiving station horizontally and vertically. The pair of outwardly extending guide rail joints cooperate with the pair of guide rails to align the fluid outlet with the fluid inlet to establish fluid communication between the ink container and the receiving station. Another aspect of the present invention printed by the Consumer Cooperative of the Intellectual Property Bureau of the Ministry of Economics is related to the guide of the receiving station. The wall then moves inward and downward towards the back wall and down to the receiving station. Yet another aspect of the invention is a plurality of electrical contacts electrically connected to an electrical storage element. The ink container guide is arranged and arranged to engage the receiving station guide, firstly guiding the replaceable ink container in a linear direction toward the back wall and then in a direction toward the back wall and the bottom surface of the receiving station. The inkjet print head 16 is responsive to an actuation signal of a print section 18 to place ink on a print medium. As the ink is ejected from the print head 16, the print head 16 is replenished with ink from the ink container 12. In a preferred embodiment, the replaceable ink container 12, the receiving station Η, and the inkjet print head 16 are components of a scanning carriage 20, and the scanning carriage 20 is moved relative to a printing medium 22. Finish printing. The printing section 18 includes a media tray 24 for receiving the printing medium 22. As the print medium 22 moves through the print area, the scan carriage 20 moves the print head 16 relative to the print medium 22. The printing section 18 selectively activates the printing head 16 to place ink on the printing medium 22 to complete printing. The scanning carriage 20 is moved through a printing area on a scanning mechanism. The scanning mechanism includes a slide bar 26. Invention Explanation (?) Head 16 to provide ink source to print head 16. The electrical interconnection system allows information to be passed between the replaceable ink container 12 and the printing portion 18. For example, the information passed between the replaceable ink container 12 and the printing section 18 includes information about the compatibility of the replaceable ink container and the printing section 18, and operations such as ink level information Status information. As will be discussed with reference to Figs. 2 to 9, the method and apparatus of the present invention describe its features that allow the replaceable ink container 12 to be inserted into the receiving station 14 in a manner that allows a reliable electrical and fluid connection system Established between the replaceable ink container 12 and the receiving station 14. In addition, the method and device of the present invention allow the replaceable printing member (ink container) 12 to be inserted into and removed from the printing section 18 in a reliable manner, while allowing the overall height of the printing section 18 (referred to as "Fig. 1" The "h" size) is a relatively small size, thereby providing a printing system 10 with a relatively low profile. Importantly, the printing system 10 has a low profile to provide a more compact printing system, and allows the printing department to be used in a variety of printing applications. FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a part of the scanning carriage 20, showing that a pair of replaceable ink containers 12 are properly installed at the receiving station 14. As shown in FIG. An inkjet print head 16 is in fluid communication with the receiving station M. In a preferred embodiment, the inkjet printing system 10 shown in FIG. 1 includes a three-color ink container and a second ink container. The three-color ink container contains three separate ink colors. The container contains a single ink color. In this preferred embodiment, the three-color ink container contains cyan, magenta, and yellow inks, and the single-color ink container contains black ink for four-color printing. Description of the invention (sheets) are separated from each other to contain less than three ink colors or more than three ink colors (if more colors are required). For example, in the case of high fidelity printing, six or more colors are often used to achieve printing. For simplicity, the receiving station 14 shown in FIG. 2 is shown as fluidly coupled to a single print head 16. In the preferred embodiment, four inkjet print heads 16 are fluidly coupled to the receiving station 14. In this preferred embodiment, each of the four print heads is fluidly coupled to each of the four color inks contained in the replaceable ink container 12. Therefore, each of the cyan, magenta, yellow, and black print heads 16 is coupled to its corresponding cyan, magenta, yellow, and black ink supply, respectively. Other structures with fewer than four print heads are also possible. For example, the print head 16 can be configured to print more than one ink color. By appropriately dividing the print head 16 to allow the first ink color to be provided to the ink nozzles of the first group, the second The ink color is provided to the ink nozzles of the second group, and the ink nozzles of the second group are different from the ink nozzles of the first group. In this way, a single print head 16 can be used to print more than one ink color, allowing four-color printing with less than four print heads 16. The fluid path between each of the replaceable ink containers 12 and the print head 16 will be discussed in detail with reference to FIG. 3. The scanning carriage portion 20 includes an ink container 12 which is shown as being suitably installed at the receiving station 14 to establish fluid communication between the replaceable ink container 12 and the print head 16. The replaceable ink container 12 includes a storage portion 34 for containing one or more portions of ink. In the preferred embodiment, the three-color replaceable ink container 12 has three separate ink holding containers, each containing a different color ink. In this preferred embodiment, the monochrome replaceable ink container 12 is a single ink reservoir 34 for holding a single color of ink. In the preferred embodiment, the reservoir 34 has a capillary storage member disposed therein. The capillary action storage member is a porous member having sufficient capillary action to hold ink to prevent ink leakage from the reservoir 34 during the insertion and removal of the ink container 12 from the printing system 10. This capillary force must be large enough to prevent ink leakage from the reservoir 34 under various environmental conditions such as temperature and pressure changes. In addition, the capillary action of the capillary action member is sufficient to hold the ink in the ink reservoir 34 for all orientations of the ink reservoir and a reasonable amount of shock and vibration that the ink container may be subjected to during normal operation. Once the ink container 12 is properly mounted to the receiving station 14, the ink container 12 is fluidly coupled to the print head 16 via a fluid interconnect 36. When the print head 16 is actuated, the ink is ejected from the ejection portion 38, and a negative metering pressure (sometimes referred to as a back pressure) is generated on the print head 36 at the same time. This negative metering pressure on the print head 36 is sufficient to overcome the capillary force and is held by the capillary action member disposed in the ink reservoir 34. The ink is drawn from the replaceable ink container 12 to the print head 16 by this back pressure. In this manner, the print head 16 is supplemented with the ink provided by the replaceable ink container 12. The fluid interconnecting member 36 is preferably a vertical ink tube, which extends upward to the ink container 12 and downwards to the inkjet print head 16. The fluid interconnecting member 36 is shown in Fig. 3 in a simplified manner. In a preferred embodiment, the fluid interconnect 36 is a manifold that allows offsetting the positioning of the print heads 16 along the scan axis, thereby allowing the print head 16 to be placed offset from Corresponding replaceable ink container 12. In the preferred embodiment, the fluid interconnecting member 36 extends to the reservoir 34 to compress the capillary action member, thereby forming an area adjacent to the fluid interconnecting member 36 to enhance capillary action. This area of increased capillary action helps to draw the ink toward the fluid interconnect 36, thereby allowing the ink to flow through the fluid interconnect 36 to the print head 16. As will be discussed, it is extremely important that the ink container 12 is properly positioned at the receiving station 14 so that when the ink container 12 is inserted into the 13th paper, the history of the paper applies to the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210 X 297 Public Love)-Letter I I--I ----------- t --------- Aw (Please read the notes on the back before filling this page) A7 Β7 Printed by the Consumer Cooperatives of the Intellectual Property Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. 5. Description of the Invention (i |) The proper compression of the capillary action components can be achieved when the station is closed. Proper compression of the capillary action member is necessary to establish a reliable ink flow from the ink container 12 to the print head 16. The replaceable ink container 12 further includes a guide portion 40, a joint portion 42, a handle 44, and a latch portion 30, allowing the ink container 12 to be inserted into the receiving station 14 to reach the printing head 16. It is a reliable fluid interconnection and constitutes a reliable electrical interconnection between the replaceable ink container 12 and the scanning carriage 20, as will be discussed with reference to FIGS. 7a to 7c and FIGS. 8a to 8b. The receiving station 14 includes a guide rail 46, an engaging portion 48, and a latching engaging portion 50. When the ink container 12 is completely inserted into the receiving station 14, the joint portion 48 disposed on the back wall 66 of the receiving station 14 is joined to the corresponding joint portion 42 on the ink container 12 (not shown in Fig. 3). The joints 48 are disposed on each side of the electrical interconnection 62. A biasing mechanism 52 such as a leaf spring (ieaQ spring) is disposed at the receiving station 14. The leaf spring 52 provides a biasing force that helps drive the ink container 12 upward from the bottom surface 68 of the receiving station 14. The leaf spring system helps to latch the ink container 12 to the receiving station 14 and facilitates the removal of the ink container 12 from the receiving station, as will be discussed with respect to Figures 8 and 9. Sections 5a, 5b, 5c 5 and 5d respectively show the front, side, rear, and bottom views of the replaceable ink container 12 of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 5a, the replaceable ink container 12 includes a pair of outwardly extending guide rails Joint portion 40. In the preferred embodiment, each of these rail joint portions extends outward in a direction orthogonal to the upright side 70 of the replaceable ink container 12. The joint portion 42 is formed by one of the ink containers. The front surface or leading end edge 72 extends outward. The joints 42 are disposed on each side of an electrical interface 74 and are disposed toward the bottom surface 76 of the replaceable ink container 12. Description of Invention (w) Corresponding joints associated with the receiving station 14. As will be discussed, as the latch member 30 is compressed inwardly toward the trailing end 82, the latch member is biased outward to ensure that the joint 54 is in series The corresponding joint 50 associated with the receiving station 14 is maintained in engagement to fix the ink container 12 to the receiving station 14. The replaceable ink container 12 also includes a key 84, which is disposed at the trailing end of the ink container 12. These The key system is preferably arranged on each side of the latch 30 and faces the replaceable ink container 12 Bottom surface 76. The key 84 and the keying portion 32 of the receiving station 14 interact together to ensure that the ink container 12 is inserted into the correct chambers 56 and 58 in the receiving station 14. In addition, the key 84 and the keying portion 32 It is ensured that the replaceable ink container 12 contains compatible ink, which is compatible with the color and chemical properties or compatibility with the corresponding receiving chambers 56 and 58 in the receiving station 14. The grip portion 44 also includes In the ink container 12, the handle portion 44 is disposed on a top surface 86 at the trailing end 82 of the replaceable ink container 12. When the ink container 12 is inserted into an appropriate chamber of the receiving station 14, the handle portion 44 is This allows the ink container 12 to be grasped at the trailing end 82. Finally, the ink container 12 includes an aperture 88 disposed on a bottom surface 76 of the replaceable ink container 12. The aperture 88 allows the fluid interconnect 36 to extend through the reservoir 34 to engage a capillary action member disposed in the reservoir 34. In the case of the three-color replaceable ink container 12, there are three fluid outlets 88, and each fluid outlet corresponds to a different ink color. Fluid communication between the corresponding print heads of the invention description (). Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a monochrome ink container which is positioned for insertion into a monochrome chamber 56 in the receiving station 14 shown in Fig. 4. The single-color ink container shown in Fig. 6 is similar to the three-color ink container shown in Figs. 5a to 5d, except that only a single fluid outlet 88 is provided on the bottom surface 76. The single-color replaceable ink container 12 contains a single ink color, and therefore only receives a single corresponding fluid interconnect 36 for supplying ink from the ink container 12 to the corresponding print head. Figures 7a, 7b, and 7c are continuous drawings to illustrate the technology of the present invention, which is used to insert the replaceable ink container 12 to the receiving station 14 to form a reliable electrical and fluid connection with the receiving station 14. FIG. 7 a shows that the ink container 12 is partially inserted into the receiving station 14. In the preferred embodiment, the ink container is inserted into the receiving station by grasping the handle portion 44 and leading the leading edge or leading surface 72 first, and the ink container 12 is tied to the receiving station 14. As the leading end edge 72 enters the receiving station 14, the outwardly extending guide member 40 on the ink container engages each of the pair of guide rails 46. The pair of guide rails 46 guide the ink container 12 toward the back wall 66 of the receiving station in a horizontal or linear motion. The guide rail 46 then guides the replaceable ink container in a horizontal direction toward the back wall 66 and a vertical direction toward the bottom surface of the receiving station 14, so that the joint portion 42 on the ink container 12 is provided by the receiving station M. The corresponding joints 48 on the back wall 66 are received, as shown in Figure 7b. The ink container 12 needs only an inserting force to drive the ink container linearly along the guide rail 46. The gravitational force acting on the ink container 12 helps to cause the ink container to follow the guide rail 46. With the guide rail facing down to the paper size, the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210x 297 meals is served ---- ---- ^ — I— (Please read the precautions on the back before filling this page) 505573 A7 _ B7 V. Description of the invention (fb) Extends to allow the joints 42 and 48 to join. Guide rail joint 4 〇 is preferably a flat circular surface to slide freely along the guide rail 46. Fig. 7b shows that the ink container 12 is inserted into the receiving station 14 so that the joint portion 42 and the joint portion 48 connected to the receiving station η are A downward force is applied to the ink container 12 as indicated by arrow 90 to compress the leaf spring 52 and drive the trailing end 82 of the ink container π toward the bottom surface 68 of the receiving station 键. Key 84 The keying portion 32 must correspond to the receiving station 适当 properly. If the key 84 on the ink container 12 does not correspond to the keying portion 32, the keying system prevents the ink container 12 from being inserted into the receiving portion Station 14. The keying system made by the key 84 and the keying part 32 prevents it from interacting with The incompatible ink container 12 of the receiving station 14 prevents its further insertion into the receiving station 14. The further insertion of the ink container 12 into the receiving station 14 will cause the fluid interconnecting member 36 to contact the capillary action member of the ink container 12 Therefore, the fluid interconnect 36 is contaminated by incompatible inks. Incompatible inks mixed into the fluid interconnects 36 may cause precipitation, which will damage the print head 16. In addition to inks of incompatible chemical nature, ink containers May have incompatible colors, which will cause color mixing and reduce output print quality. The key 84 on the ink container 12 and the keying portion 32 on the receiving station 14 allow the proper insertion of the appropriate ink container 12 to Appropriate receiving station 14. The downward force applied to the trailing end 82 of the ink container 12 causes the ink container 12 to pivot on a pivot axis to compress the leaf spring 52, thus moving the trailing end 82 of the ink container 12 toward the receiving station I4. Direction of Inner Compression (β) The trailing end 82 of the ink container 12. Once the ink container 12 is driven far enough downward, the joint 54 on the latch 30 is engaged with a corresponding joint 50 on the receiving station 14 to secure the ink container 12 to the receiving Station 14 as shown in Figure 7c. As shown in Figure 7c, as the ink container 12 is properly secured to the receiving station 14, the fluid interconnect 36 extends to the reservoir 34 to compress the capillary action member, thereby forming An area adjacent to one of the fluid interconnects 36 enhances capillary action. This area of increased capillary action helps to draw ink toward the fluid interconnect 36, thereby allowing ink to pass through the fluid interconnect 36 to the print head 16. In the preferred embodiment, when inserted into the receiving station 14, the ink container 12 is positioned by the gravity criterion, and a gravity is added to the ink in the ink container 12 to help suck the ink toward the ink container 12. The bottom surface 76. Therefore, the ink in the ink container 12 is sucked to the bottom surface 76, and the ink is drawn toward the fluid interconnection member 36 by suction by capillary action, thereby helping to reduce or minimize the ink in the ink container 12 Stalling. Figures 8a and 8b illustrate one of the positions of the insertion process described in Figures 7a, 7b, and 7c, where the leading end 72 of the ink container 12 is positioned on the fluid interconnect 36. Figure 8a depicts a side view, while Figure 8b shows an end view. As can be seen from Figures 8a and 8b, the guide portion 40 must be positioned at the ink container 12 low enough to face the bottom surface 76 of the ink container 12, so that the leading edge 72 of the ink container will not The fluid interconnect 36 is bumped during insertion. Another limitation of the positioning of the guide member 40 is that the guide member 40 must be positioned close to the ink 20. The paper size applies the Chinese National Standard (CNS) A4 specification (210 X 297 public love). Description of Invention (I) Container 12 of The top surface 86 ensures that the joints 42 are properly engaged with the corresponding joints 42 on the receiving station 14. In addition, the outwardly extending guide member 40 on the ink container must extend far enough outward to engage the guide rail 46. However, the outwardly extending guide member 40 should not extend too far outward so that the guide member 40 engages with the upright side of the receiving station 14 to cause interference, which generates friction and restraint against the insertion of the ink container 12 to the receiving station. 14. Figures 9a, 9b, and 9c illustrate techniques for removing the ink container 12 from the receiving station 14. The technique for removing the ink container 12 of the present invention begins with the engagement of the engagement portion from the corresponding engagement portion 50 on the receiving station 14 by driving the latch 30 toward the trailing end 82. Once the trailing end of the ink container 12 is loosened, the spring 52 drives the trailing end of the ink container upward, as shown in Fig. 9b. The ink container 12 can be grasped by the handle 44 to retrieve the ink container 12 in one direction with respect to the insertion direction. As the ink container 12 is withdrawn by the receiving station Η, the guide member 40 follows the guide rail 46 to lift the ink container, thereby preventing the intervening between the fluid interconnection member 36 and the fluid outlet on the bottom surface of the ink container 12 Interference. The ink container 12 of the present invention is configured to engage and interact with the receiving station 14 to guide the ink container 12 to the receiving station and to provide a reliable fluid and electrical connection with the receiving station 14. The technique of the present invention allows this insertion process to be relatively simple and easy to prevent improper insertion of the ink container 12. The customer holds the ink container 12 by the grip portion 44 and slides the ink container 12 horizontally to the receiving station 14. The guide rail 46 cooperates with the guide portion 40 to appropriately guide the ink container 12 to the receiving station 14.
