Abstract

A motor scooter type vehicle having a body frame, a swing type power unit swingably mounted on said body frame, the swing type power unit comprising an engine and a transmission case, which contains a transmission therein, extending rearward from one side of the engine, in which the engine and the transmission case being integrated into a one-piece unit, the engine mainly comprising a crankcase, a cylinder and a cylinder head, and a luggage compartment disposed above the swing type power unit, characterized in that the cylinder is arranged on one side of the crankcase to lie in a direction perpendicular to an imaginary line which lies through the center of the vehicle in the running direction and extend substantially in the horizontal direction, a crankshaft is arranged to lie in a direction parallel to the central line of the vehicle, a crank idle shaft is arranged behind and to lie in a direction perpendicular to the crankshaft, and that the crankshaft and the crank idle shaft are operatively coupled through a transmitting device and the crank idle shaft is coupled with a wheel driving axle through the transmission.
