Abstract
A refractory nozzle assembly used togetehr with a plunger for controlling a molten metal flow, including: a nozzle, having the upper part formed by a refractory materil having at least 15% of porosity to guide the gas and a lower part formed by a refractory material, and an opening having a receptacle and a discharge end for receiving and discharging molten metal respectively, being the receptacle of the opening surrounded by the upper part of the nozzle and having a bearing for close engagement with a plunger; a gas distribution mechanism, surrounding the upper part of the nozzle for guiding a pressurized passive gas flow, making it pass only through the upper part of the nozzle; and the opening washer, for preventing of the opening wall formed by the pressuized passive gas flowing through the upper part of the nozzle, and for providing a bearing to receive a plunger, making the passive gas physically flow by the top of the upper part and blocking the bearing to keep it from being exposed in the oxygen of the atmosphere.
