Abstract

A battery charger includes the AC power source, the capacitor reactance circuit, bridge rectifier, DC power regulator, auto-voltage-selection circuit, output protection circuit, DV voltage circuit, timer, and batteries. There is no limit on the frequency and the voltage of the AC power source. The capacitor reactance circuit uses serially or parallel connected capacitors to provide adequate charge condition according to the frequency, the voltage, and the best charging current of the battery. A bridge rectifier is used to rectify the power source. The DC power regulator converts the AC voltage into DC voltage to provide the power necessary for the other circuits. Auto-voltage-selection circuit includes non-polarity relays to achieve at least two voltage switching. Output protecting circuit perform over current and over voltage protections to offer a safe operating sequence. DV voltage circuit is able to detect the charging saturation state of the battery and performs either cut-off or small-current-maintenance accordingly. Timer circuit is used to control the period for charging.
