Abstract
The object of this invention is to provide a backlight device in which the boundary of the the light-up region and the light elimination region can be made clearly by simple structure, and the uniformity of luminance without the generation of dark portion due to the arrangement of partition plate can be ensured, and to provide a liquid crystal device enabling the depletion of moving image. The backlight device of the present invention is formed in such manner that the light emitted from the light source in each of a plurality of light emitting regions 8 is reflected from the reflection seal 7 which is slicked on a partition plate 6, and emerged out in the direction of a light transmitting means. The light emitting region 8, arranged to have a predetermined spacing with each other and emitting light at different timing, are formed from the light emitting portion 20 contacted with a light transmitting means and divided by said partition plate. At least a part of the partition plate 6 is made of transmitting material. A liquid crystal device is made by using said backlight device.
