Abstract
The present invention provides sea-island type ultrafine fibers with nanometer scale and methods of manufacturing thereof. In accordance with the present invention, 300 ~ 600 sea-island type ultrafine fibers are manufactured by melt composition spinning technique and a special ingredient composition of island and water-soluble sea components. The fibers are strengthening enough (> 2 g/d) to be carried out in spinning process without broken. A hot water dissolving process is then provided to dissolve the water-soluble sea component to obtain ultrafine fibers which contain only island fibers. The hot water dissolving process can improve the separation phenomena of the sea and island components in the sea-Island type ultrafine fibers, and further, the wastewater produced by the process can be recycled to save the manufacturing cost and prevent pollution. In addition, the monofilament of the ultrafine fibers has a diameter of approximately 180 nm and a size nearly 0.0003 denier.
