Abstract

This invention provides a dual-side insertion IC chip card reader. At least one side of the IC-chip card is built with at least one line of contacts. It comprises a chassis, a motherboard, an electric connector, a base body, at least two lines of terminals, a data processor, and a transmitting communication module. The chassis builds an opening for inserting the IC chip card. The motherboard is built inside the chassis. The electric connector is built upon the motherboard. The base body has a top face and a bottom face with a card trough formed inside for accommodating the IC chip card. Its insertion hole aligned with the opening of the chassis body. The two lines of terminals are built upon the base body with each terminal having contact portion, extending portion and pin-connection portion. The contact portion is located at the card trough for having elastic contact with the contact of the inserted IC chip card. The extending portion connects with the contact portion and the pin-connection portion that is stretched out of the base body bottom face. It electrically connects with the motherboard, are built on the electric connector. The data processor electrically connects with the motherboard for reading data of the IC chip card and conducting card number identification and processing onto the data. The transmitting communication module electrically connects with the motherboard for transmitting data. It has been completed with an identification process, of the IC chip card to the external computer apparatus. Its characteristic is that at least two lines of terminals of the electric connector. The contact portions of at least one line of terminals are protruded towards the bottom face of base body. It generates the top-face elastic motion towards the base body. When the contact portion of the terminal is elastically contacted with the electronic card, the pin-connection portion is stretched out the bottom face of base body from one side opposite to the insertion hole of the card trough it is electrically connected with the motherboard. The contact portions of at least one line of terminals are protruded towards the top face of the base body. When the contact portion of the terminal elastically contacts with the electronic card, it generates the top-face elastic motion towards the base body. When inserting the IC chip card through the front face or the reverse face, at least one line of contacts electrically connects with the contact portions of at least one line of terminals.
