Description

The present invention relates to machines for removing feathers and down from a bat of a bird using endless chains moving on two rollers. In this machine, hingedly connected, the links of the chain are shaped like parallelepipeds. In this way, there is a view to making a better grip and pulling out a feather by adjacent links when the chain escapes from the rollers.

In FIG. 1 and 2 depict schematically the general view of the machine (in two projections); FIG. 3 and 4-part links.

The machine for plucking consists of two rollers 1, on which an endless chain is put, composed of links 2 with protruding ends. Link 2 is located on common hinges 4, and the corners 8 of them are rounded lt remove the seizure of the skin of bird carcasses. When the roller passes, the ends of the links are raised and down and feather fall into the resulting crevices. When the link ejects from the roller, its end is pressed against the roller, the edges of the crevices are closed and the feather and down are pulled out from the tray of the carcass. The plucking using the proposed maschina is performed as follows. The bird’s carcass is first held upside down, touched to the clefts of links moving towards the direction of the bird’s feathers and then, turning, gradually lowering down, moving it several times slower than the speed of rotation of the chain. The latter obtains motion using a drive belt from the second roller to the motor shaft. The ends of the feathers and down that fall into the crevices between the links during the further movement of the chain are quickly clamped due to its straightening and are removed from the carcass.
