Description

METHOD OF ELECTRIC SCIENCE BY THE INDUCTION METHOD WITH THE USE OF HIGH FREQUENCIES

Dated July 28, 1960, No. 674885/22 Committee on Inventions and Discoveries under the Council of Ministers of the USSR

Published in "Bulletin of inventions number 12 for 1362

Known methods of electrical prospecting by the method of induction with the use of high frequencies. The described method differs from the known ones in that it uses radiation from atmospheric noise (lightning discharges) by comparing the phases of interference in a narrow frequency band at two receiving points along the profile of observations. This ensures the simplification and cheapening of electrical survey equipment.

A passing signal (thunderstorm discharge) is received by a narrowband receiver at two receiving points that are spaced apart from each other at a certain distance. Comparison of the phase of the signal from these points determines the corresponding properties of the geological section in them, since the electric field created by atmospheric disturbances, like the field when a single frequency is emitted, depends on the properties of the geological section. When placing reception points, the value of the phase difference will vary; By marking these values, while maintaining the distance between the points of the constant, one can follow the changes in the electrical properties of the geological section along the observation profile.

Reception is conducted on frame antennas, horizontally or vertically.
