Abstract

FIELD: production of expanded graphite. SUBSTANCE: method involves feeding powder of oxidized graphite to gas-carrier flow ( air or nitrogen) heated up to the temperature of 200 C, 10-25 fold expansion of flow and simultaneous thermal treatment at a temperature of up to 600-1000 C. Device for realization of the method has heating cylindrical chamber, facilities for feeding oxidized graphite and withdrawal of expanded graphite. The device is also provided with successively mounted and interconnected heater of gas-carrier, tank for mixing oxidized graphite with heated gas-carrier, and cylindrical chamber. Lower end of pipe is spaced from lower end of chamber at a range equal to 0.3-0.5 of its height, ratio of inner diameter of chamber and inner diameter of pipe is 3.16 to 5. Production capacity is 2.5-8 kg/hr, density of expanded graphite is 0.002-0.01 g/cm. EFFECT: enhanced productivity of process. 4 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
