Abstract
A method and device for determining the level of a liquid (1) in a tank by means of a radar level-measuring device (8), which transmits microwaves downwards to the surface (9) of the liquid through a waveguide (6), in the form of a vertically arranged pipe in communication with the liquid (1) in the tank (2), and which after reflection of the microwaves from the liquid surface (9) receives the microwaves for determining, in a signal processing unit (10), the level of the liquid surface, where the liquid in the tank gives rise to a first gas that fills the space in the tank (2) above the liquid surface (9) with a gas which has a damping effect on microwaves, and where the waveguide (6) is, at least during level determination, kept filled with a second gas which is supplied to the waveguide (6) from a gas source. The invention even permits radar level measurements even of liquids that produce microwave-damping gas.
