Abstract
An electric high voltage apparatus has a unit (9-14) with ability to hold a high voltage and comprising one power semiconductor device or a plurality of substantially identical such devices connected in series adapted to hold said high voltage in one state of the apparatus. Said power semiconductor device (15) has semiconducting layers made of SiC, wherethrough in the case of a series connection of a plurality of devices the number thereof may be reduced with respect to the use of for example Si as material for the devices.
