Abstract

A first and a second local network are connected to a communications network through a first and a second gateway, respectively. A connection between a terminal in the first local network and a public network may be set up using the steps of: setting up a connection between the first terminal (5; 123) and the data communications network (1; 101) through the first gateway (GW1; 121'), setting up a gateway connection between the first (GW1; 121') and a second (GW2, GW3; 121) gateway connecting a second local network (RBS2; 100) to the data communications network (1; 101), setting up the connection from the first terminal (5; 123) to the second terminal (7, 9; 135) through the first (GW1; 121') and the second gateways (GW2, GW3; 121). A communication node, preferably a gateway, for performing the method is also described. In this way, the main part of the call may be connected through the Internet, or another data communications network, reducing the cost of the call.
