Abstract
A constant-frequency machine with a varying/variable speed which comprises a main machine (1) and a regulating machine with a com on shaft (2) and a converter (28, 51) which rotates with the shaft and is connected between the rotor windings (3, 29) of the main machine and the regulating machine, and wherein the converter, during operation, is arranged as an ac-to-ac converter, and wherein, during starting, it is arranged as an ac polyphase coupler or as an ac phase-angle/voltage regulator or as an ac short-circuit coupler, and wherein, during controlled braking and stopping, it is arranged as an ac polyphase coupler, or as an ac phase-angle/voltage regulator, or as an ac short-circuit coupler.
