Incoming calls (2) are monitored by a device (31) in order to obtain information on the dialling signal and this information is compared with that in at least one registry containing telephone numbers which are barred from accessing the subscriber`s phone (1) and it is also compared with at least one registry containing telephone numbers which are authorised to call the phone. The system can be set up to run all the time or only when needed.
