Abstract

A seal (8) for a gap between a fan ring (4) round a cooling fan (2) and a fan housing (6) on a radiator (3) pertaining to a vehicle engine is intended to seal movably relative to the fan housing (6). The seal (8) has at least one valve element intended jointly with a portion of the fan housing (6) to form part of a valve which is arranged to be normally closed but which can open when a predetermined mutual displacement occurs between the seal and the fan housing. When the valve is in an open position, it lets air in for pressure compensation and helps the seal to maintain its shape, in order to prevent impairment of vehicle operation.
