Abstract

A transformer core (1), which could equally be a reactor core, is provided with a winding (2) passing through a substantially circular window (5). The core is built from a relatively large number of, preferably identical segments (4). The winding is flexible and includes an electrically conducting core surrounded by an inner semiconductor layer (8). The inner semiconductor layer is surrounded by an insulating layer and consists of solid material. An outer semiconductor layer surrounds the insulating layer and each of the layers adheres to its neighbour.
