Abstract
Method for removing gaseous mercury (i.e. in elementary or oxide form) from combustion gases generated when coal is burnt, by bringing the gases into contact with an aq. soln. or suspension contg. a reactive absorption agent (A) for the mercury, comprising one or more sulphides, eg. metal sulphides. A fine distribution of active carbon particles or other carbon-contg. material with similar properties, is added to the gases as a mercury reactive adsorption agent (B) in the same soln. or suspension as (A).
