Abstract

This invention relates to a method of mounting an air spring system on the rear part of a vehicle, preferably light lorries and buses, which rear part is suspended by the combination of swing arms and helical springs, each rear wheel of the vehicle being suspended by a swing arm and a helical spring belonging to it. The method is characterized by the combination of the following steps: the existing helical springs are taken away; a suspension device (1), designed like a package and consisting of two suspension means (12, 13) comprising air bellows, which means are connected by a bridge (14) on their top sides, is placed behind the rear part of the vehicle and is then pushed onto the rear part, attention being given to the fact that respective suspension means has to be accurately applied on respective swing arm (6, 7); respective suspension means (12, 13) is fastened on its swing arm (6, 7), whereas the bridge (14) connecting the suspension means is fastened to the frame of the vehicle on the underside of the chassis of the vehicle. The invention also relates to a suspension device of the rear part of the vehicle.
