Abstract

The expanding mandril (10) incorporates an external conical inner tension body (20) and with which works an inner conical casing body (30) provided with slots (36,38). The slots evolve alternately from the casing body opposite ends to allow radial expansion of the casing body towards a hole wall in a hole in which the mandril is tensioned by means of a screw (40) at the mandril one end. At the other end of the mandril is a member (50) of a soft material and is arranged to engage with the hole wall in order to act as a cleaning component for the hole wall when the mandril is inserted in the hole and for securing the mandril against turning when it is clamped in the hole. The soft material member is produced from an elastic polymer material.
