Abstract

A device for carrying out so called hyperthermia in a mammalian uterus cavity, comprising an elongate distal section (5) intended for insertion in said uterus cavity, and a flexible and/or elastic enclosure (31) surrounding said distal section (5) in a liquid/tight manner, and a proximal section (9) which contains a heat-releasing element (11) and which is located adjacent to or at least partially in a vagina associated with said uterus when said distal section (5) is in an inserted position, said sections (5, 9) being adjoined by an intermediate section (13) juxtaposed to a cervix associated with said uterus when said distal section is in an inserted position, further comprising means (21, 23) for supplying energy to said heat-releasing element (11), and means (17, 29) for the supply of a heat-transmitting medium under pressure for the expansion of the flexible enclosure (31) to conform with and to exert a controlled pressure on the walls surrounding said uterus cavity.
