Abstract

Telephonist workstations are included in a telephone exchange 6, telecommunications station, etc., where connection apparatus functions are comprised in or are connected to computer equipment 15. This latter can be used for the handling of the telephone exchange traffic by the respective telephonist. The respective computer equipment is arranged for implementation and handling of one or more other functions which are separated from the connection apparatus function. The respective computer equipment is also arranged for alternative connection to the connection apparatus function and abovementioned other functions. At one or more levels of loading which are less than one or more predetermined levels of loading with regard to exchange traffic, one or more telephonist workstations can be switched to the other functions in order to make possible carrying out of the tasks associated with these functions at the disconnected telephonist workstations. <IMAGE>
