Abstract

A vehicle for transporting load-carrying receptacles, such as containers, low-sided bins and the like. The vehicle is provided with means for transferring a load-carrying receptacle between the vehicle (1) and, e.g., a railway truck or some other load-receiving surface. These means include a pair of rails (5) which can be extended telescopically and laterally from the vehicle, and transfer devices which are guided for movement in the rails and which permit a load-carrying receptacle (2) to be moved laterally along the rails. The transfer devices have the form of at least one lifting carriage guided in each rail (5). Each lifting carriage is provided with support runners which run in the rail, and a load-receiving element which coacts with the load-carrying receptacle (2). The lifting carriage includes hydraulic devices which enable the load-receiving element to be raised and lowered in relation to the support runners in a manner such as to enable the load-carrying receptacle to be raised and lowered individually at its mutually opposing sides.
