Abstract

An easily adjustable output brake system for a yarn feeder has a fixed body, carrying a yarn store which feeds off through an output channel, with a rotatable member which interacts with a fixed surface to clamp the yarn between them. By careful design and selection of these components, the adjustability of the system can be achieved. Pref. an electromagnet (2) operated by a controller (7) moves the rotatable braking member (9) against the fixed member (15), against spring return members (12,16). The rotation of member (9) provides the self cleaning and yarn cleaning actions. By suitable design and selection of parts, the rapid reaction to the presence of knots or the input of control signals can be achieved.
