Abstract

A die for sheet presswork to produce a part 22, has a male die (1), a blankholder (2) and a female die (3), each being in the form of a hollow body (4, 16, 19) having a base (5, 17, 20) and a workface (6, 18, 21). Each body (4, 16, 19) accommodates reinforcement (7) and a filler (11). The reinforcement (7) is in the form of a three-dimensional array. The workface (6, 18, 21) is formed by a layer of a polymeric material, e.g. epoxy resin, which is reinforced by reinforcing members (12). A space (15) is defined between the filler (11) and each base (5, 17, 20). The reinforcement (7) comprises horizontal bars (8) secured in each body and vertical bars (9) secured in each base. The filler (11) may be concrete. The reinforcing members (12) may be a net or, as illustrated, T-shaped metal members. <IMAGE>
